Of course I don't know you and your partner's situation but, if you can, take him under your wings until he can fly on his own. You say you live 900 miles away in a city. He's 19 and working in the family business. That tells he doesn't have much of an education except HS. Correct? I think there are always jobs to find he could do and make a living for himself.
