So what is CLAW like? Thinking of going for the first time. I've done MAL and IML many times in the past, waaayy too much attitude and modeling for me now. Not shy type here, but it gets old. Is CLAW a bit more real or at least fun if you're not drugged out or a NYC muscleman? Just looking for something actually fun. Looks like all hotels are in same area, and I don't need to be smack in the middle of it, so that's fine by me. Comfort Inn is now last option, will I be sorry? Also, may take new bf/fb as a learning/sharing experience ... make sure he knows what he's signed up for by trying to date a whore ...

Agree 110% re ABS and share the general slowdown in cumloads. I prefer ABS to anything else these days. Started out at ABS when I was too young to even know the deal, but knew I responded to it. Yeah, I do baths all over and sometimes get lucky, but as you say when it's busy everyone is waiting for mr. perfect and no one is actually fucking and shooting. And I agree, baths are damn expensive now. Most guys aren't going there unless they are dedicated dick pigs like us - so it's more of us than them. Seems like it's getting harder and harder all over ... maybe because I'm getting older. But I think too many guys get online, get off, and go to sleep. Damn shame too. Hard to find the niche market now ...

Seems to me 321 Slammers is pretty much "cumunion" every night, esp on weekends. Weekends gets wild and anything goes in most areas. Not sure what more you can ask for. Damn, wish I was there now. As a DC resident, GHealth is good, but nowhere near as wild even on the best of night. Damn shame too ...

Wow. Pretty astounding stuff. Not sure what he is saying exactly, like you wonder what is going on there. But I was in Ft Laud, Florida aka gay mecca this weekend. Every place was packed. Baths sold out, huge sex club full of prob 100's of men doing everything imaginable and more. I'm just saying, maybe it is the end of time ... or the best of times. Who knows.

You said it well. As an old guy, I can say the net and online cruising has really helped and hurt gay life. Yes, we're more open and see so many other gay men around and online via the online presence. But it has, in my opinion, also amplified the absolute worst of gay men - attitude, bullshit, game playing. I could go on an on. Moreover, it's killed r/t cruising because too many folks get online, jerk off and go to bed. I basically gave up on the cruising sites - Grindr, A4A, etc. I'm old, they don't want me there, and I don't give a rats ass about their pretty looks or attitude. Give me a good ole bookstore with some straight-ish hard dicks who need to get off, or a bathhouse full of pigs, and I'm in hog heaven. Don't even get me started on the assholes who go to the bookstore or bathhouse and then stand around cruising on their phone. WTF?!?!?!?!?

Yes, big bar and people go back and forth, it's bascially just one big area. But most folks are playing not sitting at the bar. The catch with BYOB at Slammers is you have to bring UNOPENED containers, as in new, and you cant carry anything out. So take a 5th of liquor or a 6 pack and you have to leave what you don't drink behind. No idea how much mixers are. Not sure how to make that work aside from a few beers. Maybe someone here has advice for all of us. One night is leather night and discounts for anything leather, plus usually pretty good crowd on 3x I've been. Weekends are wide open, later is prob better. Seems to be 10ish crowd and then late after bars. -

they are different scenes, but outcome is about the same at both. just depends on what you like. slammers is more like a big (real big) adult bookstore. folks are clothed, mostly, lots of places to play, including a very hot dark room. clubhouse is a traditional bathhouse. strip down to towels, rooms to rent, etc., kind of tired and seedy which is hot. both can be fun, but like everything it's hit or miss. Club Ft Laud is over the top nice bathhouse, think hollywood, but it's a lot of the stand and model crowd. beautfiul men iso even more beautiful men, hard to get a fuck for avg joe. -
2120 is known as the Glory Hole to most people. It's off the beaten path, but can be interesting. Really hit or miss so don't put all your eggs in that basket. They have Sat night "parties" that can be quite something ... Code I think. The Crew Club is the local bathhouse. Just north of logan circle. Very nice, can be fun and crowded but be prepared for a lot of attitude and S&M ... stand and model. After 30 years in DC I can attest to the fact that is DC's version of S&M, and piggy isn't always accepted, until the lights go out.. You look to be young so could be fun.

Like bttm2go said ... it's part of the journey for some bottoms - it was for me. There is no logic or reason to what we are doing here, but if this is the bottom's approach at that time, so be for them. Don't make too much of it. As a top, you can help him on that journey ... just do it if that's what you want to do. If a bottom is taking it bare, he knows the deal and can't (and won't - trust me) argue. So you have the power to take him where he wants to go - it worked for me.

I think PreP is a huge (earthshatteringl?) paradigm shift for many in the medical profession, just as it is with some of us (see thread re "did you ever think you would be barebacking?). For years these doctors have LIVED their lives trying to SAVE our lives and head off this long running crisis - and that was by preaching and practicing safe sex. To now have a pill that can essentially throw all that to the curb is a bit overwhelming. I go to an ID specialist who is young and vibrant and I really like him (ok, I have a crush on him!) And he has admitted the seeming inherent contradiction in this new area of his practice... he is enabling me to do what I could not do for years because it could have killed me ... and he is doing it for better or worse. None of us truly knows how the next 5-10 years will really play out. We are still taking a calculated risk. I think it's gonna take time for everyone ... just be grateful that you have a plan, access, etc. just my 2 cents.

Great post snaketat. Couldn't have said it better. Another "old" guy here who started out bb. I mean what was the point of a rubber ... not to get pregnant??? Then the great crisis hit and I lost friends and lovers and presumed I would die too. I did not. What's the best kind of lube to use for long sessions of multiple dicks? I'm sure it's been covered here, but I'm not finding anything on it. I've always done water based lubes, first Wet, more lately Fort Troff H20. But that was for condom protection as i thought the others weakend them. But now that concern is out the door, so I'm back to square 1. Seems for long sessons of multiple players, it takes a lot of this kind of lube, and it never really keeps my hole really lubed up (it gets absorbed?) I keep adding more between dicks. Then another issue is that after multiple loads things seem to get messy, so maybe that's why .. too much lube? PhoenixGeoff your well reasoned analysis is spot on, but I think there is a 3rd aspect - the post Aids influence. Let's face it - a LOT of guys died, and a LOT of those were fun guys. So the population of possible tricks is just reduced. Those of us who lived through it are left in relationships, sexless or over the edge horndogs like us here... As for the young generation, I'm at a total loss to understand them. I've lived/worked in most of the major gayborhoods over the past 30 years, now divide time between NYC/DC/Florida, always been active and not the shy type. Cruising is so hot and I miss it so. The gayborhoods are gone. Bars are few. Baths are barely hanging on. Everyone there is online looking for their perfect "10" trick? Really .... put the fucking phone down and do something!!! So, the consensus here is there are no cruising sites, and gay life has gone totally suburban. I think most guys who are still sexy just get online, jack off and to bed. That's the product of the assimilation of gay culture into mainstream culture, availability of porn on the net, and the post-Aids influence. It's politically incorrect to say tit, but it's gone STRAIGHT ... to hell.
