  1. I’d love to make it thrice, someday…
  2. You write so eloquently about that period. I don’t know about anyone else, but you almost made me feel like I was there when I read that. Which were the piers that were most active? I wasn’t sure when I was there in May (walking the High Line - no pun intended). And what has happened to them now?
  3. I can’t get them to travel from the next village for mine, these days… 🤪 I pass near Stansted often on the train.
  4. This is the synopsis on Peccadillo Pictures website: “They took MDMA and danced the night away. If you were in the mood for pure sex, there were the bathhouses. And if total sleaze was your aim, there were the piers, the Anvil or Mineshaft, places where men simply wanted to have sex with other men with no pretence. Gay Sex in the 70s is a stunning visual document of New York during the decade of gay liberation and sexual abandon following Stonewall. Gay men cruised the streets, frequented gay bars, and, of course, had loads and loads of sex everywhere. But only 12 years after Stonewall, this unprecedented era of sexual freedom came to a close.” I really must watch it again.
  5. Not judgemental in the slightest. But I wouldn’t expect it from those producers. I think you can still find it online. It was available on iTunes for a while.
  6. There was a documentary some years back called “Gay Sex in the 70s” made by Peccadillo Pictures which I still have in my collection. It’s all about gay life in NYC back then. I really enjoyed it. Have you seen it?
  7. I went to a couple of the Sheffield ones and they were excellent - really packed and a lot of interaction. That was pre-pandemic, before we were all locked in our homes. I haven’t been back since but I have heard they were awful after lockdowns were eased.
  8. That’s 3 lucky guys… 😜
  9. Don’t we all…? 😜
  10. Yes, I’ve met with a terrific guy from here and hope to do so again. I’ve also made a few correspondence buddies, some transatlantic ones, I most definitely should like to meet up with.
  11. The apps in the UK have become wearisome and jaded; I’ve more or less given up on them. You make an interesting point about smoking. I’ve never smoked, but I’ve also never minded it. In fact, I find there’s something intrinsically attractive about a bad boy smoking.
  12. I had to make do with the men’s underwear section in my mum’s Littlewood’s Catalogue (UK guys of a certain age will get the reference). Most of my school friends were equally focussed at the bras section. We had to find wanking fodder where we could…
  13. I concur with all of that. And the host really is a superb guy.
  14. Same here. I love Andrew Christian briefs.
  15. I’ve not been to the specific weekend, but the PA is a fabulous hotel and I can really recommend it.
  16. What an great topic - and so relatable. Last October, I was invited to a birthday party in Manchester with a World War II theme. I opted for a Royal Air Force uniform because it’s always been “a thing” for me ever since childhood. The uniform - an officer’s obvs - included a genuine WWII cap. The moment I put it on I felt bloody marvellous - and looked it (I know you saw the pictures, @AirmaxUK). As you say, I basked in the masculinity of that uniform. And of those who’d worn it before me. Maybe it even held on to the remnants of their spirits. Who knows? Even more interestingly, was the reaction of others. After the party, I deliberately walked back through the gay village to my hotel. I’m not usually one to turn heads in the gay village (though not stomachs either, I hope) but on this occasion I was like a Snickers bar thrown over the wall of a fat camp. All eyes were on me and a couple of drag queens pulled me into a bar for a drink. It was quite extraordinary. Did it get me laid that night? I leave that to your imaginations. Naturally, I didn’t want to take the damned thing off!
  17. How did I miss this one when reading your blogs? Wonderfully and vividly described.
  18. Think I’m long overdue a return to SOP…
  19. I couldn’t possibly comment… 😜
  20. “Trade” and “dealer” sound like things you might encounter on some hook up sites, too. Definite parallels…
  21. I’d venture into a vacant property with either/both of you…
  22. I’ve tried to think of something similar in my working life that can compare. Nope. Nothing comes remotely close… alas…
  23. I aim to please. In every sense…
  24. I’m impressed you got A Christmas Carol and (Our) Mutual Friend in the same sentence. The thought of Bob Crachit nailing Scrooge made me hoot with laughter. I just hope the chems didn’t leave either of you with a Tiny Tim… But if you ever need an authentic British accent, well, just saying…
  25. Funnily enough, I was watching a YouTube channel last week about some Brits who’ve relocated to Florida and learned about the roof thing. At first, I thought I’d misheard.
