Can you provide a link for one of those clips? I find it difficult to believe. [think before following links] https://www.factcheck.org/2024/08/harris-has-always-identified-as-indian-american-and-black/

They aren’t mutually exclusive though. So I pick both.

I assume you know about nifty.org. I’ve been reading stories there since the early 90s. And I love your writing!

Maybe you’re missing the point of Project 2025. Trump and his supporters were distressed that they couldn’t accomplish the things they wanted to during his term. They learned that governing is hard. They faced unanticipated obstacles to making wholesale changes to government as we know it. Project 2025 aims to ensure that Trump can make actual changes quickly. Vox reported, Project 2025 is the conservative movement’s detailed and specific plan for what the next Republican president should do with his power, including its preparation to put that plan into action. Basically, it’s an attempt to make the second Trump term way more organized and effective than the first. Organized by the right-wing think tank the Heritage Foundation and advised by more than 100 conservative groups, Project 2025 has put forth a 922-page list of policy recommendations, going agency by agency in the federal government. It is not a pie-in-the-sky policy agenda full of bold but empty promises. It is crafted to be a list of things the next president’s appointees really can do, put together by many people who served in top posts under Trump last time and could well do so again. (Project 2025 is also collecting a database of names of conservatives who could take jobs in Trump’s second term.) Harris' position on the Middle East problems
DallasPozzible replied to hntnhole's topic in LGBT Politics
She responded to protesters differently at the Arizona rally on Friday. The Democratic presidential nominee was not far into her address before thousands of vocal supporters when she was interrupted by some spectators yelling above the vice president. Harris' rally in Arizona was reportedly her largest since entering the 2024 race, with an estimated crowd of more than 15,000. "We are all in here together ... because we love our country," Harris said, gesturing toward the protesters. "We're here to fight for our democracy, which includes respecting the voices that I think that we are hearing from. And let me just say this on the topic of what I think I am hearing over there. Let me just speak to that for a moment, and then I'm going to get back to the business at hand." "Let me say, I have been clear," the vice president continued. "Now is the time to get a ceasefire deal and get the hostage deal done." I understand your point. I cast my first vote for Gerald Ford. Then in ‘80, I thought Reagan was evil, but I couldn’t bring myself to vote for Carter. So I voted 3rd party for Jon Anderson. I regret that vote, and I’d never vote 3rd party again. But only you get to decide what you value most. I hope you’ll land on Harris, but you have to be true to yourself.

Kamala Harris and Mark Kelly ticket?
DallasPozzible replied to tallslenderguy's topic in LGBT Politics
My suggestion apparently didn’t land as intended. It would just be funny seeing Trump going from frying pan into the fire (or from the electrified boat into the mouth of a shark) by subbing in lovely Lindsey. Agree with @hntnholeand @ellentonboy. -

Dems are virtually nominating on Aug 7 because an Ohio election law specifies a ballot deadline before the dates of Dem convention. In the past Ohio has made exceptions, but this year they threatened not to. Later, they decided to allow, but Dems aren’t taking any chances. And states do have ballot deadlines because many start early voting in September. We know Kamala will name her VP before August 7 virtual nom vote. -

Good point. I’m not sure what Steele was specifically referring to. I’m guessing though that states have passed a lot of election laws since ‘72. 🤷♂️ -
Kamala Harris and Mark Kelly ticket?
DallasPozzible replied to tallslenderguy's topic in LGBT Politics
Michael Steele (Former RNC head, former Maryland Lt Gov) said today there would be lots of legal problems if Trump tried this. Mostly, I assume, because Republicans already officially nominated Vance at convention. I think Trump should try subbing in Lindsey Graham. -

Other than John Glenn and Mark Kelly, I can’t think of one that was very successful. Glenn was a well-respected, longtime Senator, but his higher aspirations fell flat. Just reviewing his Wikipedia page, he was considered by Carter for VP but his convention speech fell flat and Carter picked Mondale. Glenn tried for presidential nom and lost out in Iowa caucus and NH primary. I still think Kelly’s bio makes him worthy of consideration. But if he’s not a compelling speaker/debater, we probably have better alternatives. For a while it felt like momentum was behind Kelly, but I’m not hearing much of that now. There seems to be a lot of energy behind Walz. Announcement won’t come for several days, so who knows where we’re headed. And now that Republicans are experiencing buyer’s remorse about Vance, will Trump toss him aside? Such interesting times. -

Mike Murphy, never-trumper Repub political consultant, just said he thought Buttigieg is the best political athlete and could be smart VP pick. He also likes Walz. Not too high on Shapiro but said he’d be fine. -

He’s been on fire! I just heard Whitmer speak. Dynamite! I’ve seen her on plenty of interviews but didn’t realize what a charismatic speaker she is. Dems really have an amazing bench -

As usual, I suspect some of these are courtesy mentions. I like the “idea” of Kelly. Especially love that it would bring Gabby into the mix. I don’t know that much about him, but I’ve read he’s not a compelling speaker/debater. I trust Kamala to make a good decision. Would love to see Buttigieg get the nod, but probably not a good idea. With his language skills, smarts, and great communication ability, he could be a great Secretary of State. -

An AR bullet just grazing his ear has always sounded fishy to me. However, reputable sources have thrown cold water on the teleprompter rumor. Apparently both teleprompters were intact after shooting. FBI director Wray mentioned possible shrapnel. I know nothing about ballistics, but there’s discussion it could have been bullet fragment. Nevertheless, the incident was deplorable.
