Indeed, the trajectory towards authoritarian governments globally is on the upswing. Perhaps an understandable reaction to increasing strife and famine as climate change predictions of 20 years ago are manifest today. The warnings then really were "more extreme" weather, not necessarily warmer. While we see bad weather days throughout the 160 or so years we've been tracking weather facts. From my POV what I am experiencing now vs half a century ago are much larger storms, more frequent; and simultaneously. The classic fires and floods are more frequent and more severe. Many metrics are clearly on the upswing year over year now vs "every few years". Is our base human mentality to have a king who promises to take care of us as they know best?

While more often than not the candidates I vote for in state and federal positions are Democrat more than Republican. For my county elections I've little choice but to vote for Republicans, so it comes down to "which one?". To the credit of those forming my village; parties are not allowed in our elections. My wish (and yes, I know unlikely) is that we could remove parties altogether. Ultimately we are voting for a person to do a job. And a focus on who that person is and what their pattern of decision making is would, ideally, be how we make our choices. (Even grade school Jim didn't understand why it mattered that John Kennedy was the "pretty one").

I for one definitely appreciate @BootmanLA legal clarifications. TBH I don't give a rip about how this specific case plays out; it'll be what it turns out to be. Having navigated legal cases as both a defendant and a plaintiff; in particular as a defendant it was interesting to have enough background that I could observe with insight the finesse of both the Judge and my attorney. At a point I could observe the palpable change in the judge towards my side. I have sympathy for Austin Wolf. It can feel like a daunting task to build a defense. I have been curious about something for awhile; but don't really have the technical reach anymore to get good answers. But I am aware of a local case regarding a police officer and this sort of porn. I am wondering if there are cases of the Phishing Payload being porn instead of malware? Would it be that easy to insert compromising information onto any device on the web?

Never was interested in fucking for cash. I did "hire" a pornstar once but really that was more to learn of that life than sex. For me a one time thing; I don't see myself seeking a repeat. -

A dick is a dick so cut or uncut, I'm happy to deepthroat it. But uncut, when we pay attention to how ultra sensitive the glans can be compared to cut guys, takes some finesse. I have a new preferred suck bud as I seem to be the one guy in our group that can do it in a way that he loves.... So guys what am I supposed to say when someone (rarely these days) utters "cocksucker!" as a supposedly hurtful epithet? I've taken to simply responding "YUP". -

To the extent we define compulsive behavior as addition; perhaps it is; but nothing like a full on chemical additiction.

As I was one of the replying posters, for the record I wasn't mad. Not in the least. But facts are facts (or they should be). Cheating is by definition a violation of "rules". Rules one ostensibly already agreed to. So looking for rules about cheating makes absolutely no logical sense. But yeah rephrased "how can I cheat and get away with it?". Sure that makes sense. But the details aren't universally applicable. And the consequences are typically not avoidable, eventually. It is a heck of a lot easier to just rip the bandaid off and have that discussion with your mate that you want or need to fuck around; and discuss what if anything that means for the relationship. You may surprise yourself. One of the options is that your mate replies, "sure, and I can as well". Now if you find it uncomfortable as hell (as my previous made did in this exact situation); then really what are you trying to keep together in the first place? WRT Stealthing being celebrated here on BZ. Indeed some do but most of us don't condone it. Sure our society has always had some sort of snake oil salesman. Selling poison while calling it elixir. And stealthing is no different than that. When "getting away with it" becomes the more desirable outcome; it is perhaps time to revaluate things altogether. Living in a cooperative society calls upon us to be fair and honest. And when we aren't history has shown it never turns out well.

There is a massive amount of tension world wide. I imagine hunger is part of it. Desire for more power. More likely hundreds of individually small things assembled together in these now dangerous times. Are we headed towards a US Civil war? Is it imminent? Are we headed towards World War? Is there anyway to instill a vision of human cooperation? Or are we so hell bent on telling everyone else what they must do that we lost our humanity?

Nice. Thanks for posting this @tallslenderguy. Perhaps its my own antiquity; I think our social norms tend to put way more emphasis on the significance that exists. I am proud of these guys for giving it a go. Save for our plumbing there really isn't any difference. We're humans first and I think humanity would be better off if we come to terms with that.

It does often seem that way. And oddly those doing about half of the social castigation/block of speech are from the tips of BOTH parties. Women might have it worse as they aren't allowed to make decisions about what happens inside their own bodies. That's fucked up... I submit that the Christians are anything but Christian. They've absconded with the name; but have become polar opposites of the namesake of that belief. Fellow white people.... Hold up a sheet of bright white copy paper next to your face in the mirror. Who the fuck can claim white anymore? Enough already. And guns... Ugh... A perverted second amendment. By intent it is for mutual protection; not aggression. Where to from here my brothers? Can we really just sit back and watch this continue????

Of course, while it is true I've never once been medicated for my HIV since diagnosis nine months ago. It is also true though that my own genetics have attenuated the virus somewhat; so that I am having to balance the risk of combining HIV meds with other stuff I take and choosing the least bad option.

"rules to follow when cheating...." Seriously someone put those words together? Cheating is by definition a violation of "rules". Cheating is thus NOT following rules. Therefore any rules one might list are, out of the box, moot. The point of this was ?????

I also have a controversial website; and wonder what my peril might be in the coming months? Election worker here, locally elected as well. And site owner of a perhaps even more controversial site. I not only hope we all vote, but that we take time to consider the trajectory humanity seems to be taking (not just the US); and make choices that help our freedoms and not just that we wish to be free OF.

I put month and year in the title as this topic should I hope become moot as new actions and decisions unfold. Remember when Republicans complained about "activist courts"? They're back!!!! So ever since SCOTUS ruling yesterday the significance of it is settling into my thoughts. Where to from here obviously is whatever actually happens. But now that we have this new permission given the President, perhaps our current president needs to proceed with the obvious and intended use of that controversial decision. A SCOTUS decision this weighty should have been unanimous. That it wasn't, and is squarely at the D/R line (is this our modern mason/dixon line?). Are we at the threshold of civil war? We appear to be at a social impasse (although why we have to be here seems to me stupid and optional if we choose). It feels like we are AT the point of having to make some very difficult social choices.

boolean is an either or choice. Think of it as opposite choices. In the instant case one will let us operate under our current constitution and potentially amend it as it was designed. The other choice is to rip up the whole thing and start over. While starting over is what humans have done over time; in our case I submit it is unnecessary and definitely ill advised.

@BootmanLA I would argue if there were evidence to support my argument. But I hope the whole thing doesn't fall apart of things like property rights will be up for debate again.

Yup exactly @viking8x6 And since then per it's designed it has become more inclusive. Not without its fits and starts but on balance better. Rather than tear it down my hope is we'll make it better. It's been awhile since we've made constitutional amendments but the plumbing is there to allow it.
