Hiv From Oral?

I recently received oral from a poz guy who hasn't started his meds yet.  While I know that it's really unlikely that you can get HIV from oral sex there is a complicating factor.  I ended up getting gonorrhea from the oral, so I'm a bit nervous.  I know that contracting gonorrhea could make transmission more likely.  Even though I was the one receiving (we didn't do anal at all or anything else) I'm worried that if he actively had an infection in his throat/mouth that he could have possibly passed on both the gonorrhea and hiv to me.  Does anybody know the likelihood of contracting HIV from a situation like this?  Any input/advice would be great.

By received you mean he sucked you off and you now have gonorrhoea in your penis? My understanding is as follows: HIV doesn't survive in saliva and neither does the gonorrhoea bacteria which clings to the back of the throat. You'll likely have got it from him deep throating you and your penis head touching the back of his throat - he likely wouldn't have known the infection was there. Is that what happened?

Having an existing ST infection increases the chance of HIV transmission where it inflames the mucous membranes. The STI damages the membrane and the blood floods the area to fight the damage so makes it easier to get HIV into or from the blood stream. If he's not on meds because his body is controlling the level of the virus then he's not nearly as infectious for HIV as someone who is recently infected and doesn't know where the HIV spikes. My understanding is the likelihood of infection increases according to the amount of virus transmitted between two people and that there has to be enough to overwhelm your immune system response.

If you had gonorrhoea in your penis already then the path is easier, but getting a new gonorrhoea infection is unlikely to have worked to inflame the soft tissue sufficiently to pose a significant risk with HIV within a few minutes. I don't know if HIV can exist in the gonorrhoea puss but if it does and the level of HIV in the gonorrhoea puss was low then again there's low risk unless his teeth scratched your penis head..

All in all bearing in mind there are so many unknowable variables I feel while there is some risk, it's not a big risk. It's clearly too late for PEP. You won't stop worrying until the tests are back I know. Speak to your STI clinic doc. You'll need to test at 4 weeks I think, maybe sooner these days, I'm not sure. There are HIV tests that look for the virus rather than the antibodies.

The above is my take on it. I hope it all turns out ok when all the testing is done.

Thanks for your response slowfuck.  Yes, that's pretty much what happened.  He did deep throat me, so that would be consistent with you take as well.  He said his body is able to control for the virus fairly well which is why he isn't on meds.  Two things also are in my favor (I think) I do tend to precum a lot, so it's possible that the precum could have helped push material out.  Additionally I came on his chest and he didn't suck me more after, so my cum could have helped to push stuff out of my urethra as well.  I developed the symptoms about three or four days after I met up with him.  I've been monitoring my health over the past several days to note any possible symptoms of additional infection and all I have is a runny nose (which makes sense because I have allergies).  I'm definitely going to get checked by my doc in a few weeks though.

There really needs to be blood (or another of the 6 fluids that transmit HIV) in the saliva or throat.  Get an HIV test, but it's highly unlikely that you were infected.

Great, from what you say I'd be even more surprised if you got more than the gonorrhoea. Update us when you get the results please.

HIV does not enter the bloodstream thru the urethra. Your dick would have had to have a cut or abrasion on it and he would have had to have bleeding gums for you to get infected from a blowjob. You are safe. HIV doesn't live in saliva.

No, you cannot get it like that... Unless your dick has a cut on it and you are bleeding, there's no way of getting HIV from getting basic oral. From what I understand the cases in the past that allegedly happened that way ended up being from other factors where the person was not telling the whole truth about their sexual history and ended up being from Anal sex. It has to enter your blood from a reliable fluid source from said partner, i.e. not saliva. If you had high level untreated HIV and he had gonorrhea and you came in his mouth and throat, him having ALREADY had gonorrhea from before might make his throat more raw and therefor able to transmit HIV into it but again still very very low chance of it. Saliva kills it, Air kills it..... Anyway, there are of course never any guarantees as chances in a million can happen, but that would be so odd. Either way, hope all is well of course.
