  1. 1. Are gay escorts and porn stars — prostitutes or ambassadors of gay culture?

    • Prostitutes- paid sex is just degrading and dehumanizing; Escorts and Porn stars are basically prostitutes.

    • Gay Escorts and porn stars have fun and make money while having fun. People who judge them are a case of sour grapes.

    • Being gay is inherently different than being straight. Gay escorts or porn stars show the world what it means to be gay in a world filled with grave hostility to gay sex per se.

1> Yes, they ARE prostitutes.

2> They are NOT ambassadors of gay culture. If they were, they would be saying that gay sex is transactional; purely commercial.

Hope that clarifies my comment.

Got it now. Thanks!

I was always under the impression that most men who appeared in gay porn used their appearances to promote their escort work.  I don't know if that was necessarily the case back in the days when studios dominated the porn industry.  Now today, thanks to so much piracy, porn performers are almost "independent contractors" and seem to take work where they can get it.  Though the amount of escort ads has been squashed to almost nothing, from what I am told guys use forms like Only Frans to promote themselves and their escorting business.

I am NOT saying every guy who does porn is also an "escort".  Not by a long shot, but many who appear on a routine basis in say Raw Fuck Club or several other well known studios do, in fact, escort.  It is not difficult to track these guys down via X or Instagram.  You need to read between the lines, but there are ways to reach them if you desire.

stop trying to make "gay culture" happen Gretchen" 😜

it's especially laughable in the context of gay porn, which is basically free based str8 male desire. putting aside the fact that most of them are "gay for pay" heteros, most gay porn is a an alpha male showcasing his dominance by using, abusing and tossing aside a beta. he rough fucks the bottoms, pisses on him, slaps him, calls him bitch and slut, breeds his cunt then loses all interest in him. it's all so fucking ott str8boi culture its laughable. let's not even get into "knock me up daddy!, make me pregnant w your toxic babies" lol

one time i casually told my husband i'd read the same book at 20 and at 30 and had completely different views of it. years later he gave me a copy of the same book for my 40th bday because he listened and remembered and wanted to make me happy. now that's fucking GAY 😜

You must be relatively young ....

When some of us started fucking each other, using condoms was nothing more than a fetish a handful of guys practiced.

EVERYONE fucked raw - there wasn't even a distinction between covered and uncovered.  If a guy had sex at all, it was "natural", unobstructed, fill-the-hole sex.

Of course, when hiv came along, all of that changed in one damn hurry.  The pornstars started using condoms when everyone else did too.  At the time, it was either cover it or almost certainly die a terrible death.

not just that, but gay porn became a huge public service network with not just a red warning at the start but often a big show was made of "look, i'm putting a condom on! i'm gonna fuck you so good!" etc

Being a sex worker alone doesn't make a guy an ambassador of gay culture. But some arguably could be considered that. I can think of one example. One guy ran a made to order swimwear and underwear company with very gay branding. He sold clothes in a broad size range to combat the body shaming in gay fashion. He eventually shut down his clothing business to pursue a gay porn career. He goes by Eddie Patrick.

As I recall, that "grand display" of the actors putting on a condom was early-on in the crises.  It was "butched-up" sometimes, with the Top tearing the packaging with his teeth, or having the bottom put the condom on the Top's Cock, and while a bit stilted, it was also a welcome reminder that every guy that wanted to live a while longer simply had to do it.  I'm sure it saved lives.

To the issue of "Gay 4 pay", I don't have any problems with guys that need money, and can earn it with their Cock or Hole doing just that.  The desperately poor have always been, and will always be with us.  I'd rather just fork over a fin or two, without the sex, but I have no blame or judgements to offer to prostitutes.

As to "Ambassadors of Gay Culture", that's a bridge too far.  I think that each of us, singularly and in organizations focused on some other activity - i.e. music, theatre, whatever - than prostitution are the de facto ambassadors.

I turned tricks in my 20's in SF '93 -95' ish... Always a hard core bottom, and still to this day I can't ever get fucked hard or long enough.  From 48 - 52 I indentured as a TOP amd lived on a diet of twinkish young men 19 -27 was my preferred age range. So, I'm not one to be ALL bragadocious but I've never been fucked like I fuck. And while I've much less expereince as a TOP... it's what I choose if it was the end of the world and everybody only gets one. FF>> to today at 57... Sub by default TOP by inspiration (or command W/ Vigara I like to stay non-errect as a sub, it's respectful show of place). So seeing my hinderance as a TOP is motivation, turning tricks and charging for stud services get's me off... however it only works in my mind when I dont need a goddam cent from anyone, and so here's to financial independence...

Having escorted in the past and still doing porn I will say that the answer to the posted question is neither. As posters have already pointed out, not all escorts are porn stars and vice versa. The reality is that first and foremost sex work is actual work; it's not a quickie hookup off Grinder the overwhelming majority of the time. Unlike street walkers being paid for a quickie, escorts are hired for companionship as much as sex, if not more so. That doesn't make us or the adult film performers ambassadors of gay culture any more than the heterosexual ones are ambassadors of straight culture.  What it does make all of us is ambassadors for human sexuality, which the Christian/Mormon influenced culture in America has created a very toxic relationship between natural human sexual drives and made up sexual morals that suppress and shame those natural drives.

Much of my work was being a safe space for guys to explore themselves as sexual beings in an environment where they knew noting would leave the room. They could let their guard down and experience physical sexual pleasure in ways mainstream monogamy and marriage obsessed culture did not approve of.  Many of them wanted fantasies fulfilled, from wrestling to water sports, while many others, closeted or married, were very lonely and craved the kind of companionship and male bonding that today is described as "the boyfriend experience." In spite of being screwed by the political opportunist and horror of a human that is Kamla Harris (see SESTA-FOSTA), many of my friends and fellow film partners continue to try and provide these psychological necessary services. I enjoyed the work myself--and again it was work; you are focused on the other person's Pleasure and not your own--and it was gratifying to see the joy in another guy's eyes as he experienced for a moment what I experienced  all the time in my own life, because I wasn't hindered by guilt and shame soaked negative social attitudes towards promiscuity or enjoying sex purely as a Pleasure sport.

The same may be said for my adult film work. I've lost count the number of times guys have come up to me at events, especially fisting ones and told me they have cum to my videos and would love a chance to play with me (and sometimes they want to film too). I am always happy to be able to say "yes" and see them go away happy and be able to tell (and show, if we filmed) others they got to fist (or get fisted by) a porn performer they regularly watch.

Out of all my experiences (and I should add I do have several college degrees and hold a professional job), I saw the need to address this very topic about human sexuality in the USA and created a seminar "The Power and Philosophy of Promiscuous Living." I have given at CLAW the last two years to very positive reviews--one guy even stopped me on the stairs of the host hotel and asked if he could have a private counseling session to help him manage the guilt and shame he still feel for enjoying that most basic of human drives, sex. I have been encouraged to turn the seminar into a book and am considering putting in the work to do that because experience has shown me that such a message is needed and necessary. So, no, escorts and porn stars aren't just prostitutes or ambassadors of gay culture; they are ambassadors and celebrants of human sex and sexuality.

Prostitutes. Like I was told when some of the community decided to “reclaim” the word “queer.“ Just embrace it, and that will strip it of its power to hurt or offend.

should honestly be legally protected under a human right. Who the fuck is the government to say you can’t seel your own body?! they just want to make sure they get their piece of the pie by profiting whenever anyone does anything to support themselves.
