  1. Once my life calms down a bit one of my objectives this year is to start one or more tube sites. People have taken a lot of different approaches to tube sites - some just have a lot of low quality videos, others pirate full-length movies (not going to be doing that), etc. I know I'll have one tube site for genuine amateur content. I'm going to try to have membership on that tied to membership here. Basically it's where you guys can upload your own personal videos. I'll also do a small tube site of stuff I shoot that I have model releases for. In time that will probably become a pay site. Those I view as my "quality" sites. The question is whether I should also do "quantity" sites. Apparently if I spend a few thousand dollars I can buy a license for several hundred videos. The issue is they may not be the highest quality. I'm not sure people are really going to pay to see low quality videos. I also sorta doubt that it would even be a good "bonus" site. I have a friend in the porn business who's really into "boyfriend" sites. Apparently "boyfriend" is the new word for "amateur". And the thing they're doing is scraping what appear to be genuine amateur videos off other tube sites and recycling them. So that's another approach to having a site with a lot of videos. So - what do you guys think - which do you prefer to jack off to - a site with a lot of videos many of which may be low quality, or a site with relatively few good videos? Would you get bored if the "quality" site didn't update often enough?
  2. My suggestion is pick a side of the fence and own your choice. Either bareback and stop worrying about what comes with it, or use a condom every time and stop fantasizing about bareback. The conflicted middle is the worst case scenario IMHO.
  3. There are problems with Chat/Cams - it's broken more often than it works. I'll try to get to the bottom of it in a couple months. Don't have the time between now and then, sorry.
  4. They've posted an update on their blog, but ironically you can only get to the blog if you're not experiencing the problem, so I'll quote the information here for those of you who can't get to the sites... So basically they had a typo that was affecting one of their four DNS servers, and if your internet service provider hit that DNS server and cached the bad info, then you have to wait for your ISP's DNS server to pull the corrected info. As they mention, things can also be cached on your machine.
  5. Curious - you're also in NYC - who's your internet service provider? Time Warner?
  6. Just checked - my hosts file is fine. BTW, when I went to edit some old stuff out of my hosts file it took an administrator password to make the change - so it appears Mac users (like me) are pretty immune to what PigMaster is talking about... I'm on Time Warner cable. It's possible their DNS server was hacked, but all other sites are working fine. My suspicion is that one of the Wet Media (BBRT) DNS servers has been hacked and it's giving out bad info to other DNS servers. They have 4 DNS servers - so if one or two are hacked the others could make it appear that everything is OK. I find it a bit suspicious that the names of the DNS servers aren't consistent... Name Server: 169.WET-MEDIA.NET Name Server: 204.WET-MEDIA.NET Name Server: NS3.WET-MEDIA.NET Name Server: NS4.WET-MEDIA.NET The first two look like they should be NS1 & NS2... For the record, BBRT is resolving to 78.159.101.217 - which is a bad IP since it's located in Germany (and BBRT is in Arizona). In case you're having a problem and you know how to edit your local hosts file the correct IP address for BBRT is 209.104.10.212
  7. Based on your screen name you're in Chicago. I'd be surprised if the City of Chicago didn't offer PEP to people without insurance - I'm pretty sure NYC does. Call the health department and ask. The other option is to call the local gay STD clinic (I assume you have at least one in Chicago) and ask if they know of anywhere to get PEP for free. If you don't regularly bareback (despite your screen name) and it's worrying you - then PEP may be right for you. That said, the risk depends on if he was poz an whether he was on meds. Odds are, you're OK - but the risk is not zero.
  8. I suspect their DNS was hacked - so it works for some people, but not others...
  9. I'm seeing the same problem...
  10. The follow up to this question is has your experience with HIV mirrored your fuck flu experience? I heard of a study once that said a mild fuck flu probably means you'll have a relatively easy time being poz, where a bad fuck flu means trouble with HIV in the future.
  11. I love New York. It suits me - felt like home within months of moving here 22 years ago. The opportunities are incredible here. When they say "if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere" that's not quite true - other places just don't have so many ways to succeed. Granted, a lot of it is timing and luck. For example, my bf and bought into the right building and the right neighborhood at the right time. When we sold our place 11 years later we made more off the sale than we had spent in maintenance and mortgage over that time - so we basically lived for free. And that set us up for the place we're now renovating that's an even better deal. Then again, New York can be a brutal place too - it's expensive and if you don't have your act together things can go wrong very quickly. New York is also incredible at protecting gay people. Sexual orientation discrimination is dealt with pretty harshly here. Gay bashings are rare, but when they happen the police and DA are pretty good about charging it as a bias crime (at which point sentences get doubled). There's also a good safety net for poz guys who are poor. Politically New York is very liberal and sane (with the exception of Staten Island). 85%+ voted against George W in both elections. We're so friendly to illegal immigrants that poz illegals can get public assistance (housing & medical care). New York is also remarkably tolerant. Yes, with 8 million people, some bad things happen. But there are so many different groups that no one is the majority and people genuinely understand the importance of diversity. Doesn't mean they love all the other groups - but they understand that everyone should have the right to live in peace and pursue their dreams. And you rub shoulders with so many different types of people that people learn that it's the individual they have a problem with, not the group - at least they understand that better than they do in most places. Sexually New York could be a little better - we could have good bathhouses, we could have sex in bars - but we don't have any of that. Yeah, some guys have a little sex at the Eagle, but then the monitor comes around and stops it. Still, there's enough guys in NYC that you can usually find someone to hookup with if when you're looking.
  12. A tripod will do the trick (with the right camera). If you need a third guy to be cameraman I'm in NYC and up for it. My "price" is that I want the video posted on the amateur tube site I'm going to start later this year.
  13. There's a thread in the Atlanta section of the site that answers your question.
  14. But you're here... Wild guess - the safe sex is just a phase...
  15. Yeah, PVC is bad news... My brother-in-law thinks it contributed to his first wife getting cancer and dying - they had PVC water supply lines. It's dangerous when the water you drink passes through PVC pipes. IMHO, PVC should only be used for drain pipes. So it makes sense that sticking PVC up your ass is probably a bad idea too...
  16. You totally missed my point. Why is the neg guy not responsible? He's knowingly putting himself at risk by having high-risk sex. If he's not responsible for his own health, who is?
  17. I've scheduled some gangbangs for later this month in Tempe, AZ... Wednesday, March 28th, after work from 5pm to 7pm - two hot young poz bottoms will be taking loads. Friday, March 30th, after work from 5pm to 7pm - two or three neg bottoms will be taking all loads, no questions asked. Saturday, March 31st, mid-afternoon from 2pm to 4pm - two or three neg bottoms will be all taking loads, no questions asked. In all the gangbangs the bottoms will be asked to wear blindfolds/hoods. I listed the parties on BBRT and there hasn't been much of any response. I'm starting to think Phoenix area tops are pretty inhibited or Phoenix is a town of many bottoms and few tops. I've got plenty of bottoms wanting to be gangbanged, but not many tops. If you're a top and interested in coming, post something here and if you're on BBRT, please sign up there as well.
  18. It's a step in the right direction, but there's no sense of holding the negative partner responsible for their own health. Why shouldn't they be required to ask the question? Why is it the poz partner's responsibility?
  19. Additional parts should always go in the original thread. Otherwise they're impossible to find later. I'll merge the threads.
  20. There will be more, but it'll probably be a few weeks before it gets written. So what exactly about the story do you like the most?
  21. That's probably the best idea. The two day drive each way is a bit of a killer.
  22. No, he's not like that at all... He's got a really good heart. It's just he's been dealing with a few different unscrupulous real estate folks in Brooklyn who happen to be Jewish, and his black boyfriend just wants to play video games all day long instead of going out and doing stuff... When someone fits a stereotype he points it out - rather bluntly... And I think that's sort of the point with any discussion of racism... Think of Archie Bunker... Sweet guy, but an asshole when it comes to race/diversity. People with generally good hearts can be really stupid and do things that hurt other people when they're looking through racist lenses. Most of the time it's just a lack of education and interaction with people who are different. Then there are fetishists who love minorities, but belittle them in the process of loving them. Again, they can have good hearts and they can even mean well. None of those types are like the "haters" who are just dangerous and evil...
  23. Given that last time I went to IML I nearly got arrested because TSA classified my sex toys as weapons, I'm thinking I'll drive to IML this year. I did the drive a few years ago and it gets long and a bit boring. It's a two day drive - with stop around Cleveland/Akron. (Last time I stayed the night at Flex Cleveland but it wasn't as exciting as it sounds - sorta dead). So if I drive this year I'd be looking for one or two traveling companions. Best would be someone from NYC/NNJ, but anyone along I-80 would be good... If you pitch in a bit for gas that would be great, but it's not absolutely necessary - the gas will cost me about the same as a flight. And if you don't drive - that's OK - I'm mostly looking for someone to relieve the boredom. This year I'd probably skip Flex and do a hotel - maybe host a gangbang or something. Or maybe some pig near Cleveland/Akron wants to host - but that could be a bit awkward if the chemistry isn't right... If you're interested, contact me soon... I need to get an idea of whether we're a match to spend 25 hours together in a confined space Though that's less of an issue if you're between Cleveland and Chicago - since less time is involved...
  24. On a related note... Take a look at this article about how big business is affecting science... http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2012/feb/19/science-scepticism-usdomesticpolicy There's basically a war going on against science and it's funded by big business marketing departments. My contention in this whole thread has been that there's a war going on against science in the pharma business as well. The odd part is that pharma is inherently science-based, but the way they go about things these days they squash any discussion that might go against them selling more drugs and making a bigger profit. True science is about the free exchange of rational ideas. Pharma has created a dogma around ARVs by co-opting "thought leaders" in the field and putting out studies with flawed analysis. True science is out the door, in it's place is group think. My question for all of you is what does it mean for gay guys to get caught in the middle of a war on science where corporate profits, not your health, is the primary objective?
