Actually, the original post was about Trump, and his being held accountable for his past and present attitudes about Black people in general and about Kamala Harris in particular. To be honest, as a White person (through no fault of my own) who is well-disposed toward Black people, I'm confused by the direction this thread has taken. It seems we have agreed that Kamala Harris is in fact Black, and from what I've read recently in reputable media, she has had reasonable exposure in her past to what I'd describe as "Black culture" - certainly enough not to be ignorant of it. I totally get that she's socioeconomically out of line with the vast majority of the Black populace. However, given the way our system is set up, that's going to be true of any candidate for high office. So I don't really understand how exactly the Democratic party is "flipping the bird" to Black people. I'm not saying that it isn't the case, what I'm saying is that I haven't heard (here) HOW they are failing to "support the interests of the Black vote" and what those interests are, and without having some clue about that, on the face of it your assertions don't make sense to me. It's your right to sit this one out, though as others have pointed out, Trump is a tremendous threat not only to the interests of Black voters but to American democracy itself, and that may be a reason to vote without regard to your own interests. I do have a question, though: I will be voting, at least for that reason, and also because I consider it my civic duty. Who would you rather I vote for, Trump or Harris? That is to say, if you had to choose one, which would it be?

I rather suspect she also sees the Middle East conflict as a losing issue for Democrats and is deliberately choosing to focus on other topics - and fortunately (at least from the standpoint of politics) she has many other crises from which to choose.

"That's probably not a good idea." 💜😈🥵 So perfectly understated.

Confirmation e-mails are broken right now; see this topic: The problem has been reported and we're trying to fix it.

No, I don't. I would have posted something here if I did. The staff here is insanely small (as is the membership, compared to other sites that are less "niche"). @rawTOP (the site owner and developer) has a lot to do to keep it running, and it isn't his day job. Furthermore, as you may or may not have heard, he had a stroke last year, which of course had a huge impact on the backlog of stuff for the site. I understand that it's frustrating; believe me, it affects me, too.

As stated further up in the thread, ALL EMAILS from the BZ platform are currently broken, probably due to a bug in the platform software. The only people who have the power to do anything about it have been notified.

@PaganzofLA altogether different. The chat has been broken for a long time (over a year, I think). The mail problem is recent.

Grindr banned in the Olympic Village in Paris (2024)

Perhaps we could get an update from a BZ member who happens to be on the ground in Paris this week? -
Grindr banned in the Olympic Village in Paris (2024)
viking8x6 replied to brnbk's topic in LGBT Politics
I honestly doubt it. My reasoning is that the operative word here is "village" - if an athlete sees someone on Grindr and is interested, all they need do is discuss a meeting location, without reference to GPS. It's not like the distance would be great or that there aren't more than plenty of landmarks. Further, given that Paris is a large metro area, anyone visible online would of necessity be within a relatively short geographic distance - they show (more or less, with dither to prevent identification) the nearest few dozen or few hundred people, and in a place with the Grindr-using population of Paris that won't take you far. -
Here's a link to a news article re. the rally referenced above: https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/trump-if-reelected-wont-have-to-vote-fixed-1235069397/ Believe him when he says this. He really does mean it.

Here's my recommendation based on my best understanding of what's going on: Retrying probably won't make the issue (much) worse. The email messages simply aren't being sent, and the accounts that keep being created won't actually do anything, because they will never be confirmed. You will NOT get the confirmation email automatically once the issue is fixed (the process that would have created it has ended). Given the current time frame of the problem, repeatedly trying the process again until it works does not appear to be a good solution. Instead, I recommend that you come back and check this topic on a regular basis to see when it has been fixed, which I will post here.

No news on this yet, folks. I have specifically inquired. I'll certainly post something here as soon as I know anything more. The problem is something that affects all of the emails sent by the site software, so it's almost certainly something that got broken by an update in one of the third-party software packages that were used to build the site.

Tested positive for Syphillis....
viking8x6 replied to Cubbtm4poz's topic in HIV/AIDS & Sexual Health Issues
The initial symptom is typically a sore called a chancre. It's typically round with a break in the skin in the center, and usually painless. It mostly happens at the site where the bacteria enter the body (mouth, genitals, or anus) and it can be internal. Because it's painless, it can easily go unnoticed, especially if it is internal. I've had syphilis twice and once I definitely did not notice it; the other time I might have but if so it was misdiagnosed (by a fairly skilled doctor who knew I was a sexually active gay man) as a hemorrhoid. Syphilis, in any of its stages, can have symptoms that are very subtle and that vary widely from one individual to another, so much so that it has been called "the great imitator". An ex-BF of mine had it misdiagnosed as scurvy, of all things, which is a much less probable affliction for someone in the 21st century western world, if you ask me. More on symptoms here: https://www.cdc.gov/syphilis/about/ -
Grindr banned in the Olympic Village in Paris (2024)
viking8x6 replied to brnbk's topic in LGBT Politics
There's no profit to Grindr in doing that for homophobic reasons. They're not banning the app, just turning off geolocation. Yes, "for safety", but from a business point of view it's very likely they're doing it for reasons of potential liability. -
Great stuff! But who the heck is Brad?

I'm certainly not under the impression that anyone is suggesting that Biden resign the office of President, only that he withdraw his candidacy for the 2024 term. Is there something I missed here? I will freely admit that I pay limited attention to the cacophony (in the very most literal sense of the roots of that word) of political news, to protect both my sanity and blood pressure.

@BootmanLA please be aware that some of the posts appearing at the end of the thread were merged in from separate posts about the same issue, so it's not quite as bad as you're making it. Of course had those posters actually scanned the top page of the help forum, they might have seen this topic.

It is allowed to share personal contact info. But. Please be aware that this is a public web site and anything you post is visible to anyone on the internet, and may be copied elsewhere.

There appears to be a general issue with all email notifications sent from the site, unfortunately including these. @rawTOP will have to take care of it from the engineering end, as Moderators don't have back-end access to the site software.

Could this be HIV? Please help...
viking8x6 replied to bolestan's topic in HIV/AIDS & Sexual Health Issues
Very unlikely that it's HIV. Quite possible that it's a bacterial sexually transmitted disease that has made its home in your throat. Oral gonorrhea and oral chlamydia are both known and not at all rare. If the antibiotic doesn't clear it up, you should tell the doctor about the possibility, as then they can test and/or they may want to use different antibiotics. -
When an FB wants to get serious and you don’t
viking8x6 replied to KindaBasic's topic in General Discussion
Does not sound to me like you were cold. Honest, yes. Perhaps slightly hasty, but if you had clear knowledge without mulling it over that you were unlikely to develop any feelings for him, then it was definitely good to say so. Unfortunately, unrequited love and being fuck buddies really don't go together well, and yes, you probably did lose a good lay. That's nobody's fault ("not even the Romans"), and your ex-FB sounds like he is smart and honorable and handled it reasonably well under the circumstances. -

Awesome finish! -
Justifying bareback is actually pretty easy. Many of us who do, simply believe that the benefits outweigh the risks. Personally, I used condoms for a couple of decades. When PrEP became available, I jumped for it. In my estimation, the risk of harm from it is clearly outweighed by the quality of life benefit I get from going bare. Nothing in life is safe. Every action you take has some risk attached to it. But the early 21st century developed world, even for sexually active MSM, is a whole lot safer than some people would have you believe.
