That said, I've played top/vers on the BDSM scene for over twenty five years now, yet I can't understand why some (mainly North American) authors, use the word 'faggot' in a story, as its so derogatory and negative. There are plenty of other words which can be used by a top, to display his dominance / control of a scene / over a sub guy, without needing to repeat such a pejorative and abusive term. Similarly, why make reference to 'pussy'; 'cunt'; 'clit' or even 'man-gina' etc? Man on man, gay sex doesn't need to be feminised in this way, unless a story has a specific TV/TS theme.

    I understand the point you are making, but should a middle aged driver still be penalised for being a bit of a speed freak when he was a teenager. I know someone who received had a clean driving licence for thirty years and then accumulated several speeding tickets in a very short period of time. The total was sufficient to have lost their licence (& their career), but a friend knew that the person's mother had died just before the tickets started accumulating, and too lose their licence, would make them even more depressed. Accordingly, they took some of the points and the person has not had a speeding ticket in the years since.

    I think this 'penalty points' system is reminiscent of being at school. It is quite churlish! It doesn't matter if the points can only be seen by the profile owner and the administrators. I'm sure anyone receiving points for doing something accidentally/unintentionally (like posting in the wrong area or using unacceptable language), bitterly resent being treated this way. We all make mistakes (even if its just pressing the wrong button on a keyboard) and a person is usually willing to forgive. That appears not to be the case on BZ where any transgression is penalised, whether clearly intentionally or not. Simply moving or (as necessary) deleting a post is surely quite sufficient in most cases. On any other site, your account would simply be suspended for a period (with the right of appeal because administrators do make mistakes). After several infractions & suspensions, you would be given a warning that your account will be deleted unless you adhered to the rules.

    Grundle?? WTF?? Even as a native speaker of British English, this was a new word for me. Never come across its usage (on a gay, medical or any other scene for that matter). Which is surprising, as when I looked it up in a dictionary, it said it was: slang for the perineum (the area of sensitive skin located between the genitals and the anus.

    Totally agree. Its less complicated when there are only two people in the scene so a simple dialogue is like a game of tennis - batted back and forth. In such cases, only periodic additions of 'he said' or 'muttered Adam' are required. All I would add is an advisory to always place each character's lines on separate line from the other characters last statement. i.e. "You're hole is twitching with hunger isn't it?" demanded Chris. "Yes Sir, it is!" replied Phil. "What does it want boy?" As he asked this, Chris climbed on to the mattress and knelt between Phil's splayed and restrained legs. "It needs to feel your bare cock inside it please Sir" came the reply, accompanied by a wiggle of the arse. Well structured dialogue can enhance a scene by helping the tension to build, as well as slowing the inevitable temptation by an author, to rush towards penetration and orgasm.

    Two more examples (slightly out of date now though): 'Gatorade' is a brand of sports/energy drink (popular in the US), often referred to in these stories. Despite its introduction into the UK in 2008, its still far less well known (I'd never heard of it until joining this website), or widely available here. People of an older generation are more likely to refer to 'Lucozade', whilst younger generations will probably refer to 'Red Bull' or 'Monster'. In the latter half of the 20th Century, 'Durex' was (& remains), a well known brand of condoms in the UK, but at the same time in Australia, it was a brand of adhesive tape! The tape is no longer produced under this name due to a growing awareness of its connection to a type of contraceptive.
