Note you said curable excepting Herpes and HIV. I needed to distinguish that there were other STI's that cannot be cured when someone is infected. Just needed that distinction there.

Here's a perspective from a poz guy. If I knew about prep, and had access to it, I probably won't be poz. And honestly, ask any guy who would prefer to be negative, and they would give you that answer. My thing is this, why ruin your health just for a thrill? I am telling you from my experience, getting the fuck flu or seroconversion for those of you versed in infectious diseases like HIV, to the lifestyle changes that come with being poz, along with the astronomical costs of the meds and the insurance if Trump and the GOP has their way with Obamacare, trying to be poz isn't worth it. It also isn't worth losing people you care about the anguish your family and friends are put through, and it isn't the long nights wondering what if, and planning to kill yourself. But hey, what do I know? I'm just a man who would rather go back in time to stop my stupid self from making a monumental mistake.

Go on Prep, and you won't have to worry about HIV much. It's 99% effective to most strains, if you use it consistently. It doesn't do much for other STI's, but at least it helps with HIV.

I cannot tell how I felt when I found out about Prep after being POZ, I heard almost nothing about it before catching HIV and now that I know about it, it's a cruel irony. The problem with the Anglophone Caribbean is the Sodomy laws on the books makes Gay, Bisexual and Bi-curious men scared of going to a doctor and asking about treatment for HIV, let alone something like Prep. Here was how clumsy the conversation with the doctor I went to to see what was wrong with me, when I was going through what I now know as seroconversion. "Do you practice anal sex?" And to make it worse, the bloody Christian fundamentalists will make your life hell for loving dick, and of course they think preventing the spread of HIV causes promiscuity.
