    You are correct. This was 2001. When I discussed this “conversion” flu many of my friends had not experienced it. Some believed to have had it long before it manifested any symptoms. If my mom was not a medical professional I would not have known what a symptom was.

    I didn’t recognize mine at first. My mom that was a hospice nurse did. I was sort of in denial. Looking back I was sick (achy, chills, fever, etc.) in the middle of summer. Not typically when you get a flu like that. My mom told me to go get tested and I did. I had been chasing so it wasn’t a big surprise when it was confirmed.     When I got it I also didn’t have any symptoms that alerted me. I went to my Dr. for my routine HIV follow up. I casually mentioned what I thought was a hemorrhoid.
