  1. I could not disagree more.
  2. I, too, will continue to use a VPN as well. I hope they don't restrict their use but I'm afraid I don't trust them at all.
  3. They are extremely easy to use. The cost varies, so it pays to shop around. Like me, you probably just want it for viewing US Netflix from the UK and vice versa. Obvs… 😜
  4. Before we become too complacent about VPNs being our saviour, it’s worth remembering that the Labour Party, then in opposition, urged the then-government in 2022 to crackdown on the use of VPNs, which doesn’t inspire confidence for the future.
  5. Starsky and Hutch. I actually got to meet David Soul many years later when he was over here doing something (my ex was involved in the production). He was much older by then, of course, but could still stir memories of many a youthful wank. Nice man, too.
  6. I bet that nurse will be lighting up a few Christmas parties next week…
  7. On the Docklands Light Railway. Between Island Gardens and Canary Wharf. With the train guard. It was very quick…
  8. You say that as if it’s a bad thing… 😜
  9. You’re long overdue a revisit, then. 😆
  10. Damn- I missed you in the UK!
  11. I find stories like this so depressing. But I wonder if these people are desperately unhappy and/or insecure themselves if they feel the need to put others down. I think, ultimately, it says more about them than it does you, or anyone else. One of the things I loved about the late, much lamented Fort in south London was there was absolutely no attitude like that anywhere. All ages, all shapes etc were welcome. From memory, SOP is much the same.
  12. My entire adult life must have been one long humiliation, then. Funnily enough, it hasn’t felt that way. Quite the reverse, in fact…
  13. Never in the USA. Yet…
  14. It’s been quite a while since I last went - but I always enjoyed it when I did.
  15. I must get there again sometime. The problem is our bloody trains are usually scuppered at weekends. But I will make it.
  16. How have I missed this one? Oh, to have been there to lend you a hand (as it were) if you wanted it… 😜
  17. On a more humorous side note, I’m reminded of staggering down the hill to catch the first Tube after a night on the Heath (not for the first time…) It was still dark but I snatched a photo of one of those old alleyways that lead off from the road and felt very proud of myself because, in black and white, it looked very Dickensian. No skill on my part, I must add - just a lucky point and shoot. I showed it to a strait laced work colleague who was impressed. ”That’s fantastic,” he said. “Where is it?”“Hampstead. About 5am,” I said without thinking. “Oh?” he said. “What were you doing in Hampstead at that time?” “I, er… I was at a party that ran on late…”
  18. Having never been to Berlin, I was just curious about the differences. Like everyone else, I’ve always felt safe at Hampstead Heath. There were vague rumours of assaults there several years ago but I’m not sure how credible they were. I’ve certainly never come across anything like that down there. I used to visit Barton Mills back in the 90s. That was a great spot as it was situated between two USAF airbases (Lakenheath and Mildenhall) and attracted some very fit US airmen. There was a guy murdered there once who’d been cruising (around ‘94, if memory serves) but that’s about the only horrible thing I’ve come across in my “career”.
  19. I’ve never been. How does it compare vis-a-vis Hampstead? I’ve never had any problems like that at Hampstead, although I know there have been periodic reports of trouble there.
  20. Verbal.
  21. I’ve said it before but you have a way of writing that is so vivid it almost makes the reader feel they’re there (I should be so lucky!). It’s a real talent.
  22. I take my bulb to the gym as well. Always better to travel in hope, as they say…
  23. Excellent start. And a good cliffhanger. I think we’re all counting down… to the next instalment.
