I feel like the same questions seem to pop up here on multiple threads on the one day. Anyway, for what it’s worth, I’m a committed bareback bottom and can’t see myself going back. But I’ve no interest in having HIV. On PrEP, well versed in the science of it, and happy with that as protection. -
I’m putting my faith in PrEP. It’s hugely effective, although I realise it’s not 100%. I take it religiously, and when you combine that with most guys I fuck seemingly being on it/undetectable (I don’t ask statuses but they sometime bring it up), I’m happy enough with that probability. Certainly happier than when I was relying on condoms but making exceptions for really hot guys, or if I was drunk. If I do test positive, it’s not the end of the world. I’d go on meds straight away and wait till I was undetectable to fuck again. I’m not in the bug chaser/gift giver mindset in any way: no judgment, but it’s just not for me.

Interesting. That wasn’t my experience at all. Then again I was younger and less experienced when I was using condoms, which might have had something to do with it. A moot point on this website anyway, but interesting!

This thread is a fascinating historical record! In 8 years, it goes from “will it ever be normal again?” to “of course it’s normal!” Where I am, this seemed to happen over the course of about a year, and unsurprisingly coincided with PrEP becoming available. First online, then with a private prescription in proper pharmacies, and finally for free to all gay men. And it’s wonderful 😊 -

Poppers won’t show up in any commonly used drug test. In fact, they’re not even tested for. You’d need a very specialised test and even then they’ve a short half life (i.e. they leave the body very quickly) so you’d need to test for them very soon (hours) after using them. Nobody uses these tests, because they’d be expensive and largely pointless: poppers are legal in most jurisdictions, at least in the Western world. You can actually get DP dildos to practice with. I don’t have one myself but I’ve seen plenty online. Personally I don’t think I’ve ever been in a situation where two tops are happy to fuck me at the same time but they’re not willing to at least try DP if I’ve asked. And I’ve been DP’d where one of the tops was a small Asian guy with an in proportion dick, so they don’t have to be huge. They do have to be hard, and to all intents and purposes you can forget about using condoms. If one/both of the tops is a safe sex person I wouldn’t even bother.

Do you know, one time I’d have said this, but I actually don’t agree now. I think raw and condom fucking are different things. Which I think is why I’d be comfortable enough stopping proceedings and trying to get him to take it off like DannyBoyCMH suggested. I’m in if you’ll have me and this damn virus ever goes away and we can travel again! Yeah, apparently I’m “warm”, and I’m told this is a good thing. Hmm. Interesting. Makes me wonder what I’m doing wrong. I will say most guys from my country have a reputation amongst international visitors for being a bit more inhibited than average when it comes to sex.
