Sure if you care to @Pozzible. I have almost no influence on how any of our governments future days will play out. Maybe the senators and congressmen will do their check and balance job they appear to have abdicated almost completely. I think many forget that while the orange one tries to dominate the human conversational bandwidth when, actually, I would just as soon be naked with you swapping spit and jizz. I have a handful of podcasts and will selectively view broadcast TV. But maintaining an awareness without fretting is my daily goal. In the instant case, this is all going to play out. Will there be twists and turns? Seems likely. I would so love to be naked having sex right now... Jim

I pay for her podcasts as that small amount helps make this profitable enough for her to keep up this quality public information. For me she has become a trusted voice. Not the only one; but she is on my short list of people I want to read or hear as our national politics unfolds.

@Pozzible thanks for the hyperlinks although I rarely open one's posted here. But I don't take Megyn Kelly as a trusted source anyway; so.... Perhaps Trump's color suggests he has been toast all along and it didn't matter. 🙂 The "teflon don" reference isn't without merit. I'm not sure anything is going to matter until our house and senate start listening to the majority of the voting public. Did it really change anything while the house was on vacation compared to the 41 days before? It isn't so much what Trump did. The house and senate ratified pretty much anything he chose to do. They certainly had the authority to control this but actively chose not to. Will they behave differently in the coming months? I hope so, but I would not bet on it.

Certainly local politics have the most direct impact on our home lives. (local "politician" myself if elected to local office makes me that). I also work our polling place when I am not on the ballot myself. I have yet to figure out why it is the local elections that get super low turnout. Around here, 10% on some. Rarely as much as 20%.

I know when I got pozzed, and which of the three, if not all, actually infected me in 2023. But how many lifetime fucks? Starting in the early 1970's when I was walking distance to an active ABS? A lot. I am not going to hazard a number as I didn't keep a logbook. -

You'll take whatever position you wish @tobetrained. Honestly I don't care. I have no expectation that others agree with me. My position, the shut down was caused by Republicans. They have all the power. If Republicans wanted to end it, they could. The Dem position is well stated, I don't need to beat it to death. They won't agree until R's actually negotiate, which the R's refuse to do. Dems are in DC. Repub's are on vacation. There are a ton of other things to improve how our democracy progresses, but that won't ever happen with Nazi rule or one party take the position that they own every correct thought and action. (which is MAGA right now)

Indeed. I was surprised that Joe ran for 24 at all. At the time he announced I shook my head and said something akin to "this isn't going to turn out well". And it didn't. Kamala gave it a good run for her 107 days; but indeed, it was fucked up from day 1 as the primaries were already done. Dems were running a candidate that did not have the benefit of primaries, save for the shaky point that had Joe died; she was the elected logical successor. As a party, I believe dems are well aware they fucked up and we are where we are. Now it's "where to from here". It appears that dems are reinventing themselves, and thankfully, there is no figurehead.

This is just a datapoint. While the results of this election suggest the tides are shifting, be mindful that doesn't mean they have shifted.

@tobetrained just because the Dems are holding fast to not raise healthcare premiums isn't a valid argument for this being "created" by the dems. By every and any reasonable metric this was "CREATED" by the Republicans. You can pretend otherwise, but history is going to judge you mistaken.

Yes, starting in January I'll pay my max drug copay of $2,100. After that I won't pay for any of my meds for the rest of the year. For 26 my advantage plan is offering to spread the $2,100 out over the 12 months.
