  1. Indeed and I feel for the MAGA faithful as, much like the followers of any cult, they are being lead astray. I hope for the best for them as they find their way out of that cult when it inevitably ends.
  2. Of course, we are under a different playbook today. Dems most likely will have Harris paired with someone; undoubtedly a younger ticket. My hope is they choose the most vote getting combination. Hopefully if we can break the cult hold on the Republican party we can return to some better political balance - which makes for a more satisfying life for MOST. There is absolutely no way we are going to satisfy everyone, and certainly compromise is essential to get most of what we desire. So the contest now between a younger team who makes way fewer gaffs vs an old guy who rambles and seeks to be dictator like the guys he most admires.
  3. Yes one can spin it that way. But that distorts his objective even in that case.
  4. It certainly is forever for me...
  5. There is, finally, a real opportunity. It used to be that the candidates were not set UNTIL their respective party conventions. Not a year before any elections. For a lot of good reasons, Harris as President makes sense. And while I thought I would have liked Biden to endorse both a P and VP candidate when he stepped out (which I have always thought would happen), truly having the Convention actually argue this; and come of it with a VP pick is getting us BACK to democratic election process. There are a lot of great choices. And this passes the torch to the next generation, as we should.... I was glad the R's waited until (pretty much) the convention to pick a VP; the party didn't pick the VP, Trump did and the party just said (essentially) "yes master lord and savior".
  6. Holy fuck, as long as that look on his face as him about to fuck me now that I came on his face - we can work on names another day....
  7. I used to think that about Donny boy. His TV show I believe explains why there is a vacuum in space. 🙂 His false claims about Obama got so old I figured all would take him for the moron he is. And yet, here we are!
  8. Risk vs Risk; as is always the case, but the downside is worse this time of 'getting it wrong'. In a sane world I would dig more deeply into each candidate as I really don't give a rip about what party they are in, but I do care about who they are; how they go about making choices (as they are going to be doing that on my behalf). The ruined GOP has abandoned sanity altogether for a world of utter fantasy. The challenge for the Dems is to appeal to the most they can. Even then we know the Orange Geesus is going to claim he won. Facts have no bearing on that party. I am uncertain how we as a people should act beyond voting. I would love to think we'll run a relatively normal democracy. But I could easily it being the beginning of a new US Civil war.
  9. @BarebackedBear I believe we'll see a change. I obviously don't know it; but if I were Joe and reviewed not only the debate, but many interviews since, he has experienced the double time aging that all presidents (well save for 45) experience. He is pretty aware I believe. It is so important that when he steps out of the race it is turning the keys over to another pair. Kamala is a good choice and quite logical. Had Joe died in office, she would be President. This would have been a stupid week for him to pull out, or even indicate he might. The more he continues to say "I'm staying in" the more time he gives his party to evaluate options of the most likely to succeed in election pairing. One thing I started this week. I stopped listening to any news. I think my blood pressure dropped. 🙂 I'll catch up without having to endure David Muir's obsession with breaking news that isn't breaking at all.
  10. Would not surprise me @BootmanLA
  11. I can relate. I have a flat on Zillow for rent. I get people wanting to rent when their net income is LESS than what I am renting the place for. Or they are looking because their landlord booted their ass out for non payment; and think I will even bother to discuss a lease. Or they say one thing and I get a true credit report only to find their actual income is a fraction of their stated income and debt up the wazzoo.. Seriously I don't even understand why they bother except to give me practice in declining their request for a walk through. OR I take some time to create a profile on Scruff. I actually answer the questions many ask. I date my posts so they know I didn't write my diatribe six years ago.... But every damned day I get some dunderhead who clearly is incapable of reading with understanding ask me inane questions I've answered including context. OR I have a car on the market right now and assholes want to work around my agreement with the posting site and mail me a check (which is damned near certain to be fraudulent). Always with come cock and ball story about some stupid family matter that requires us to work around the stated sales structure on the site.... As @viking8x6 now firmly believes, I take regular curmudgeon pills (it would seem). Rant accepted and understood @AirmaxUK
  12. Yes indeed if Joe dies suddenly we have a Veep. But if he drops out of the race we have an election to get through, and we will need Harris plus a running mate. To drop out not having seen to that would be stupid, and very unlike Biden we've experienced for so many decades.
  13. You do realize BootmanLA was paraphrasing someone else right???
  14. If Joe drops out of the race, the reaction is very much tied to HOW he drops out and who he proposes as a replacement. It would be a horrible idea to drop out and leave a vacuum.
  15. Well indeed that is the R now. I don't think the Rs are even aligned with any part of the GOP. They just absconded with the R name...
  16. No they will happily kill us gay guys too.
  17. Unfortunately we don't know if it is connected to his politics. We won't likely find out for months or more; long after our squirrel or clownfish news cycle has moved on to the next big thing.
  18. Yep I see that @Knotme. While honestly I think a Kamala/Hakeem ticket would be a nice balance; I see enough of that "built in" racism in some of my peers that has me thinking a Harris/Kelly ticket would pick up those scared white voters. And man, a woman of color president and a former astronaut vice would be a pretty compelling ticket.
  19. Obviously @hntnhole we'll see as all this unfolds. You know I thought I was wrong once..... But I was mistaken. LOL Honestly Joe might truly want to be a President who dies in office as his legacy. I can understand that as a relative handful die in office. Man I miss the old GOP so much. This was before the two parties became warring factions. Yeah people had strong feelings; but we separated feelings from fact better then than we do now.
  20. A little seedy adds to the atmosphere; overly seedy not so much... 🙂
  21. That's truly a shame @Guy4GuyCoSpgs. By definition this particular forum is the POLITICAL forum and politics are diverse. There are a lot of other forums within Breeding Zone that pertain to things you might find more interesting. To leave the site because one small part tweeks your soft self seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Good luck to you though on whichever site you find that works for you.
  22. Those metrics aren't relevant anymore. When we are behaving in an either/or world, the kid was not a Democrat by any stretch. How he manifest as R might inform why he took the shot, but he was some flavor of R. I know a number of MAGA individuals who don't fly flags. But it does seem to be the more visible political indicator locally. T signs or none; and frankly, not a whole lot of T signs.... I suspect there is a huge hidden pool of old GOP folks around me who see Trump for who he is and won't vote for him. They might be holding their noses (so to speak and hearkening back to Hillary times), but will vote D president while otherwise voting R. I've seen that trend before in local elections - one delight of being a poll worker and sorting the paper ballots at the end of the night. We see where the marks are and get a pretty good view of some odd bedfellows (as it were).
  23. Does it really matter? R's have a beef with immigrants even though because we are US citizens, we are immigrants or at least have immigrant genetics within us. I believe the R's just seek to reduce the US population.
  24. I've been pondering our current; today July 16th. The R path is well defined and I hope most get directed to Project 2025 and get pretty familiar with it before voting. That's the Republican platform right now - and IMO miles apart from the GOP of pre Reagan. The Dems, I hope (more than believe) are grappling behind the scenes before a cacophony of opinion floods them, with a better option. This isn't to say I am not happy with Biden's work. I definitely am. Are all aspects of US life perfect? They never are. But there are plenty of metrics to measure success and he has done well. But given the deficits Joe has demonstrated now multiple times; that isn't going to improve month over month for four years. If we elect him I believe he will die in office; and maybe that is in part his motivation. Funerals of sitting presidents are historically quite the events. And given his life; maybe that would be good. But I don't see him uniting the country. It would be foolish at least to not make the ticket Kamala and ???. And before Joe steps off the race, they need to work out ???. Kamala Harris and Mark Kelly might be a great team up. Friends of mine float the idea of Hakeem and Kamala; and I honestly have no issue with that notion; but I think more voters would jump on a Harris/Kellly ticket and given the narrow band available; they need to consider a ticket to bring in the most YES votes. So my hope is they're working on this; and that perhaps at the start of the convention Biden does a well orchestrated hand-off.
  25. @BootmanLA Obviously this is speculation, but something in me believes Joe has reviewed the tapes and realizes how horribly he did. But to step out without a plan in place isn't something I would ever envision him doing. Thus, I imagine he and the D party are working behind the scenes to work out the next act. Perhaps a Harris/Kelly ticket which would check a lot of boxes. Biden could open the convention by pulling out of the race with a Harris/Kelly (as in astronaut Mark Kelly) ticket. What I don't want to see is all this played out as the media does so horribly. Just make a choice, announce and go.
