Ok, so I may have skipped over the posts of people talking about their symptoms, mainly the sores/ lesions. I have not had any symptoms such as fever, body aches, chills, or painful sores on my body, no swollen lymph nodes, etc etc etc... BUT, i have had these red, flat, non-itchy and overall benign hives on my arms that, as of yesterday, have now begun to spread to my legs and feet, as well as my groin and pubic region. none of them hurt or itch, look scaly or even have white heads or puss pockets.

I will be going to an urgent care soon, just cuz im paranoid as fuck about this kinda stuff, but i was wondering if anyone could calm my anxiety about all this, or if someone who has had or has MP could share their experience with the sore/ lesion aspect of the illness. any additional info and links would also be greatly appreciated!

My mate in Manchester who was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago seems to have got off lightly because his sores/lesions started to clear up within three days and he’s fine again now. Apart from some itching at the outset, it hasn’t troubled him much at all.

Last time i broke out in hives was when I discovered an allergy to a laundry product I had switched to a couple months before.  The one with the European looking woman (costume) is sniffing dirty clothes and dancing.  I concluded they took that video when  she broke out in hives...  🙂

Go to Urgent Care confident that whatever they find they will help you handle it.  No point fretting too much stuff that "IS".

I did have a nice conversation with the individual in our County Health department about where I might get vaccinated here in Wisconsin.  As of a couple days ago there were only 4 total cases in the state.  They believe they will get vaccine early in 2023.

Is there a website you are aware of that gives Monkeypox vaccination options in Canada?  (I have friends there an am asking them the same question.)

Vaccines in Canada are mostly given out in the main gay centers - Montréal and Toronto, and to a lesser extent Vancouver. Your friends should look at the City health department websites for each of those places.

Here’s an article on the situation in Canada…

If none of them have puss, then almost certainly not Mpox.

I would be loathe to diagnose anything via a description provided over the internet. Just go to a doctor and have him look at it. Just for the peace of mind.

Vaccine is limited in Belgium too. I had to go to France to receive my first dose.

I can confirm what as been said here, and an epidemiologist from the federal administration said it too... "no worries, the monkeypox is just affecting a particular group of the society at the moment". In other words, no need to do anything it's just a gay problem.

It made me decided to go to France and not wait for my government to react.

I consulted my physician over this monkey pox & i received the vaccine when i was young for small pox but during my teens there was an outbreak of chicken pox which i also had & after this period was over it seems to give me an extra immunity to monkey pox i am told, i sure hope so, because i am not waiting to get another pox. if others have had chicken pox it should give you also an extra immunity to this monkey pox but as always it's best to check this with the specialist.

Having had chickenpox won't improve your immunity to MPX, as they are different diseases.

The virus causing Chicken Pox is varicella zoster virus (VZV), a type of herpes virus. If your immune system is down, this virus might reappear as shingles.

Monkeypox however are caused by an infection by the monkeypox virus, which is related to other orthopoxviruses such as smallpox and cowpox.

A prior smallpox vaccination does appear to grant a small bit of immunity against MPX. It's recommended to get a booster with Imvanex (Jynneos), a third generation smallpox vaccine that's rarer than hen's teeth at the moment.

Got my vaccine appointment scheduled for Wednesday. Hoping I dont feel like poop afterwards. Have a music festival to be at two days later 💩

Generally there will be little side effects. Headache, nausea, muscle pain, tiredness, and injection site reactions. From what I heard from friends and experienced myself nothing major. Have fun at the music festival.

I also want to mention that if you are a resident of Washington D.C., you can get your vaccine.

I have also heard from my friend in NorVA that they have just made the vaccine available to high risk Virginians.

That’s where I got mine on July 5. FYI, unlike the flu shot, which is IM, this one is subcu in the arm. I felt nothing, and had no reaction afterwards. I hope you’ll be fine too.
