I prefer a full beard, but anything that leads to beard rash... ;-)

I like very early Tangerine Dream (sixties to mid 70s) for sex. Instrumental, usually arrhythmic, the precursors of today's ambient. Though I can't listen to the first CD of The Orb's first album "Adventures in the Ultraworld" without getting a hard on...

Had a FB who'd get me in the sling and start the fuck by pissing a bladderful up me. If I managed to hold on to his piss for long enough I'd end up pissing over myself before either of us came.

I'm going to make lipodystrophy work for me by having a biohazard on my back just below collarline: enough extra fat the from buffalo hump to absorb the discomfort of what's usually an awkward place to tattoo. The other one probably just below my navel (the price of versatility!). Just waiting for the pain in my back to subside. Hint: if you're wheeling a motorbike over ice and it starts to go over, don't resist it, just aim to give it a soft landing rather than tear muscle by fighting it. Do the latter and you'll pay for years...

Hiv+ boy -but i'm hiv negative

Forget PrEP and concentrate on getting his viral load as low as possible. Reasoning: he has no healthy option but to take what are essentially poisonous chemicals (and yes, I have my daily tablets laid out on the desk in front of me, which includes medication to resolve problems caused by the antivirals and medication to resolve problems caused by... you get the picture). His having an undetectable viral load has exactly the same effect as you taking PrEP - though obviously if you don't want to risk HIV you'll have to keep things safe when whoring around. And if either of you are doing that, then you need need regular STI checkups because other people can be less than courteous about telling you (if they even know) about what passengers they have. Another reason I say "forget PrEP" is the psychology that says "if I'm taking medication then there must be something wrong with me". So you start skipping doses. And one day you get fucked by someone with a strain of HIV resistant to the PrEP drugs, so that you end up knocked up, but not by your man. Yet another reason is that the PrEP drugs, like any drugs, can have side side effects: tenofovir (one of the PrEP drugs) damn near killed me last year with a rare side effect (1:100,000). I ended up delusional and starving to death. Another couple of weeks... If his VL is undetectable, go for it! -
Wow! Thanks for the vote of confidence! Lipoatrophy can come and go according to your state of health at the time. These days, far from being the result of illness, it's more likely to be the result of over-prescribed drugs between ten and fifteen years ago. Lipoatrophy caused by illness has always tended to appear (if it's going to appear at all) earlier than you imply. Final stage HIV disease is life threatening, not terminal. Terminal disease is when there is no chance of a turn around. I know people walking around today who once only had four or five CD4 cells. Why not read up a biit on HIV and stop telling people what they can and can't find attractive: if someone tells me they find my facial wasting (or indeed wasting syndrome when I had that) attractive, all I ask is that it's not the only thing about me they find attractive.

What I'd've said, but I'd add in that it's extremely important to take all the pills, if they're prescribed - there's a distinct possibility that the nurse/doctor you see might think there was insufficient risk. If truvada is prescribed, you must take the lot at the prescribed intervals otherwise, if you did get HIV from last night's fun, there's a chance the PEP won't work and that resistance to truvada may develop. PEP only works within 72 hours of possible infection and the earlier it's started the better. All that said, transmission is easier top to bottom, through still possible the other way round. As many chasers here will tell you it can be a difficult virus to get, but some people do get it first time out, as it were.

Honest discussion about poz health
bearbandit replied to makingwords's topic in What's It Like To Be Poz?
There are so many tests out there now, with varying degrees of accuracy, that undetectable is going to have to carry the rider (according to test manufactured by xxx). The important theing to remember about VL tests is that their results are expressed logarithmically, so VL1000 is only twice VL100, not ten times as you'd expect. At the undetectable end we're talking pretty small numbers and most doctor don't seem to be perturbed until VL reaches 50,000+. I'm not a doctor, but at that level I'd say resistance tests and possible a change of combination are in order (as well as checking the patient's adherence) at that level. I'd be pleased with those numbers (especially the %). Incidentally my hospital has just changed their VL testing to a lab which returns >70 as undetectable. The lower you want to go the more it's going to cost you... -
Opportunity to look at AIDS up close
bearbandit replied to NiceHard1's topic in What's It Like To Be Poz?
Dropping an OI and depending solely on CD4 counts would be a mistake in my opinion, as it's possible for OI's to happen outside their extected CD4 range - I once knew a guy who had PCP and a CD4 of 700. I guess a lot of the decision making in the document referenced has to do with USA politics and welfare. I think that's a mistake as some people's CD4 count ricochets all over the fucking place. For myself in a five year period I had one opportunistic infection and a CD4 count whose graph looked like like a very jittery heartbeat. I can see it now, turning up at my quarterly appointment and asking which stage am I at this time... -
My profile says vers "looking for poz only" - kinda get sick of of the mail from neg and ask me guys. Like an ad on bbrt is going to make HIV disappear!

Try everything twice. (The second time's to make sure you weren't put off by nerves or discomfort the first time.) Hair clippers (no guard, set to shortest) are easier to handle than a razor. If he doesn't like the very slight stubble that leaves, he's got every excuse to get his cutthroat out...

We tend to use poppers in overdose -our decision - hence these side effects. The film is curiously difficult to get hold of on the UK but just seeing the name Christine Maggiore makes it certain that you're in for a Disneyworld ride wiith the Queen of AIDS dissenters: for the AIDS is a result of AZT and too much amyl nitrite (too much assplay or fisting doesn't help either, they claim). She's the one who let her three year old daughter die of an unspecified aids-related cause before dying of PCP herself. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Numbers for further information. Acute, chronic headaches, etc, are side effects - go read up on the drug at an impartial website. $40 for a small bottle of poppers: you were ripped off. It was (I think) Duesberg who first wrongly postulated poppers as a cause of aids. The reason for the difference in numbers of guys getting sick who were using poppers, and those who didn't is simply the fact the those of us in the former category were a bit more adventurous about sex and therefore more open to exposure through blood to blood or semen to blood routes. I got HIV years before the test was available but in hindsight can pin down the date to a time when I was a perfect slut, with or without poppers. Even in the seventies, guys who kept themselves abreast of medical news knew the dangers of overuse of poppers. So we wprked to avoid them. The poppers gasmask was much rarer than Tom of Finland suggested, and when it was used the bottle would be removed "when he looks like he's had enough"

@straycowboy Because, like the vast majority of recreational drugs, they're fun/make you feel good. Yes, there are risks but they're relatively rare, a damn sight fewer than with other drugs, and I'm willing to take them, hence the way I've learned to re-organise my prescription drugs to accommodate poppers. Biggest risk I face from them is a lecture from my consultant... ;-)

Afraid of letting a undetectable guy load me up.
bearbandit replied to erreth's topic in Making The Decision To Bareback
Because if they weren't worrying about HIV they'd be worrying about cancer, or any of a list of obscure, rare diseases? Or the state of their relationship? Or their lack of driving skills? I worked on the government's helpline backing the iceberg ads of 86 and the terror that HIV evoked in people then (ok, it was also a bigger thing then with no treatment)... "But what if I found two 50p pieces and they were stuck together with chewing gum. If some with HIV had been chewing the gum, would would the risk be then?" was one of the saner, less "out there" questions I was asked. -
The other thing to note is that poppers don't mix well, as ctop implies, with any sort of medication for high blood pressure. In the past I have simply not taken the blood pressure medication if I was expecting sex later on. More problematic is the fact that poppers doesn't mix well with protease inhibitors, which is why people taking protease inhibitors are only prescribed half doses of viagra (in the UK people with diabetics get four viagras a month, and in Wales they're free). My way around that is to take the protease inhibitors as early in the day as possible and not take the viagra for about ten hours. Final possibility is if you have diabetes: sex burns off an lot of energy, poppered sex even more so. There's a possibility you might be approaching a hypo. I usually have reasonable notice of a hypo and anyone I'm fucking with at home knows where the fruit juice is.

What are some ideas to get more young guys into barebacking?
bearbandit replied to rawTOP's topic in General Discussion
The difference between the originator and the last poster on a thread is an easy enough one to make. Done it myself more than once. And yes, cognitive impairment can be a symptom of HIV disease, however, tattpig's error is, I would guess the same error that many of us have made at one time or another. That said, I don't think it's appropriate for you to be slinging insinuations that someone has HIV around here. It makes you look very immature. If you have serious questions about HIV and aids, I suggest you pose them in the appropriate forums where various guys, some, like me, living with HIV, may address your questions if they're posed in a mature adult manner. -
In the UK it's illegal (Disability Discrimination Act 2010) to refuse service to anyone on the grounds of their illness or disability (for the purpose of the Act HIV is counted as a disability).

The hottest compliment you've ever received?

On holiday for Folsome, my partner and I were staying with a friend who lived at Church and Market. About six in the evening, we were heading for a couple of hours' sleep having been up since sparrowfart. Guy approaching us realised there was no chance with either of us because we were (a) in the wrong situation for sex and ( looked obviously knackered and therefore not likely to be a good fuck. He passed us on my side, squeezed my ass in passing (and possible anticipation: had I been alone and not so tired...) and said "Nice to see the trash on the street" -
You echo the words of more men than I care to think of. The end of a relationship is just as difficult as bereavement: in some ways worse as he's still walking around. If you can afford short let flats, go with that and be nomadic for a while till you can decide where you want to be. The feeling of deadness passes. I'd suggest that going out hunting for a lover/partner is the wrong thing to do right now. Play the field, and more importantly make friends. Sometimes friends turn into friends with benefits - who might also enjoy your new man when he turns up. Having had a quick dribble at your bbrt profile I can't see you going without for long. Don't be afraid to act on impulse, but be aware of the potential for hurt. As time goes on that potential for hurt will decrease as your ex fades into memory and the hurt you now feel starts to heal. Might take a while, but you'll come out of it okay...

Get hold of "Hot Bauds 2" by Kyle Stone and read "bike.txt" by Beartrap (me under another alias) - you may enjoy it. HB2 is a selection of BBS erotica from before the internet had taken off for the public. I had three stories in HB2 but unfortunately the contract was that Kyle Stone gained the copyright while all contributors got was three copies of the book. If I still owned the copyrights to my work I'd've posted my and my late partner's stories here already.
