Son's Best friend is on Grindr and he's in my guest room.
wood replied to TigerMilner's topic in General Discussion
I really want to say show pics of son!, but yeah I know thats wrong, lol. -
Tell your current doctor you are moving, and inform Gilead about it too, and you should be able to get another bottle. I have a friend on PrEP who is out of the country for 3-6 months, and he got a 3 month supply before he left a month ago. He also gets assistance from the program.

How many "neg+PrEP" liars do you think are there out there?
wood replied to rawfuckr's topic in PrEP Discussion
Well I just had a FB diagnosed HIV+ who was on PrEP, went off because of a lack of insurance, because HIV+ and just a few days ago changed his profile to "positive" So it does happen. He could have been HIV+ for up to three months, and he was surely quite toxic in that time. In general however I think people are lazy about changing status just like they are about getting tested. I bet there are many more people on PrEP who never changed their status. Additionally most of the people I have talked to have been pretty consistent with PrEP usage, so while my FB did convert, I think most people try to be better about taking PrEP than he was. -
I was talking to a friend/fb the other day when I casually checked out his BBRT profile, and noticed it went from "Neg on PrEP" to "Positive". Pretty surprised I asked him about it. He said yeah it was true, and that a few months ago he lost his insurance and at first spaced out the doses, then went off completely for about a month. In that time he didn't change his sexual habits at all. He got it back but was far from consistent with it. Anyway a few weeks ago he went back in to do his 3 month checks, and found out he is HIV+ He said he didn't know when it happened, because he has been having a lot of sex, and didnt remember getting sick. In his case he got a lifelong illness because of a bit of apathy and not making a phone call for the assistance program. Really silly IMO. So if you are on PrEP, TAKE IT! It doesn't work if you dont!
-
NICE! I have a spreadsheet too, but mine REALLY needs updated, lol. I'm at 99% adherence (2 missed doses in about 13 months) Tested neg yesterday.
-
Thats not out of the ordinary, and if you used condoms with at least some of them, your risk was even lower. HIV only takes one time, but its also a fairly delicate virus. If you want to stay neg, nd plan on having bareback sex, you may want to consider PrEP if you are in the US.

I've went through some clinical training, and actually delivered the news twice before when I really wasn't supposed to. (really understaffed place) The best thing I can say it that you get a read on the person real quick. Each time for me, the guy had a look on his face of "I know what you are going to say" So I just went through standard protocol, going over risk factors, bodily fluids, etc. In the places I have been at they have said after the initial conversation just to let it out. "your test is should reactive...." I think for many people it doesn't hit until later anyway. The reason for not really waiting is because people start to freak out and make assumptions if they have to wait very long, so its best to do the session relatively similar regardless of the outcome of the test. In contrast to when bearbandit found out I bet its a lot easier for the clinicians today. Its now a stumbling block not a death sentence.

You are correct on some of your points but being blunt, you are making a lot of generalizations about all white people too that are not all accurate. I completely understand being frustrated by racial issues, and I would be too, but making generalizations about all white people isn't helping anyone. The mandingo shit is absurd and stupid on so many levels, However again all white people are not like that. As far as interracial relationships go, they are only on the rise across all ethnicities/races and sexualities, thats a fact.

Do you wait to play after getting tested/treated for STDs?
wood replied to BuckTorro's topic in General Discussion
Spot on. As for the guys who don't stop, unless you are in a glory hole and no one see's you, Its a real quick way to get a bad reputation, and for people to stop fucking with you if you consistently spread STD's. Most people don't want to go to the doctor or clinic just because they have sex. While we all know the risks, and choose to engage in them, many people will forget you and go else where. just an FYI. -
If you are only looking for bareback action, I would revise your profile, and not list your status, keep that for a conversation. Keep your wording really general too. if your profile has too much in it you will turn off ALOT of guys. For example "Pig breeding top" "looking to breed ass" "raw fucker" etc etc etc is all too much, and many times you will get only bad people. Even just saying "anything goes" is sometimes too much for some guys. BUT! If you put in more general words like "sane freaky top guy looking for chat, fun, maybe more" you will increase the amount of people who think you are just a normal guy who enjoys sex. More is really less when it comes to profiles. There is no need for a book, just some simple info. Saying you are a total top will get attention because there are so few, but always include stuff that isn't sexually related, hence the "chat and maybe more" portion of what i said above. especially on A4A, there are too many people that will call you out as slut for looking for sex, its so stupid. Also I would try jack'd on your phone. I have lots of luck with it.

ditto, the fact that he was open, and unapologetic in a time like that is nothing short of incredible.
-
Eh I would just leave it blank then. In your profile it says you are on meds, which is really the main issue of you are HIV+ Let people start a conversation with you, and see where it goes. You can still inform people, but that doesn't mean you must advertise your status.

Are there actually gay guys who don't like rimming?
wood replied to Jamesbgck's topic in General Discussion
Huh??? There is a vaccine for HCA and HCB, which are the only ones potentially spread by rimming, and HCV is not going to be transmitted by rimming. -

I think thats what it comes down to for most guys. Additionally I think many guys get into it when they are a bit older, as its not something they do when they first start having sex. -
Promiscuity and sti testing question
wood replied to nyfreak's topic in HIV/AIDS & Sexual Health Issues
hahahaha, yeah yeah yeah, I think we have ALL said that before. Just make it a habit on go on schedule. It really takes the worry out of it. If you are sexually active I recommend going 3-4x a year no matter what, and getting full panels done. You will be surprised how many times people will have something and never know it. Oral Gonorrhea for example rarely has symptoms, but you could be infecting others. Lastly even without health coverage, I know NYC has plenty of free clinics to go to, so dont make excuses. -
Ehhh yeah that sucks. Its great that PrEP is available in america, but i suspect that even if America had a single payer system there would still be PrEP. Americans LOVE medication as a solution. As for the healthcare system in Holland, yeah its a awful always wrong argument that competition will drive down costs in healthcare, even the "non profit" healthcare systems desire to make money to expand, and it only increases costs on consumers. In contrast, countries that have some level of universal healthcare usually have lower costs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_health_coverage_by_country

Eh they happen, this is why regular screenings regardless of symptoms are so important. If you didn't get tested you could have been spreading it.

Poz Guy Against PrEP = A Guy Against Abortion? None of their business?
wood replied to rawTOP's topic in PrEP Discussion
I say this all the time on here, its idiotic to lie to your doctors. If you don't like their response, go somewhere else. Doctors can't treat people correctly if they are lying. Think about the early days of aids, and if you went to the doctor and said "No, I'm only having sex with my man" They may not inform you of other potential risks, or downplay them. About 6 months ago I went to a walk in clinic to get tested for other STI's, and it happened to be at a bathhouse. When asked if I had symptoms I didnt lie, and I said no. I also said that I had been to the bathhouse alot recently, and dont use condoms all the time, and that its probably a good idea. They agreed. Lastly I could give two fucks about the court of public opinion. If it reduces HIV infection rates, and protects me, I am all for it. Also people already assume gay men are sluts so really I don't think PrEP will have any effect on public opinion. -

This cant be stressed enough. Its important to remember than for HIV+ people on truvada, or any medication containing its components, they WILL also be taking other medication that may further stress the body. Atripla is a prime example, Its 2/3 Tenofovir/Emtricitabine, just what Truvada is, but it also contains Efavirenz, Which is well known for its side effects. With HIV- people on it for PrEP, it could be the opposite. I'm a good example. Its the only medication I take regularly. Studies are also starting to show that HIV- people on PrEP are experiencing a significantly lower amount of side effects compared to HIV+ people taking the same medication. -

Not to be too blunt, but dont you see the irony in having an aversion to popping pills, yet needing too everyday? I could stop taking PrEP today, stop some behaviors, jerk off more, etc, PrEP gives me that option. After you have HIV its really not an option. The prostate cancer analogy is somewhat true, but there are tons of small things a man can do to help avoid prostate cancer. Hell getting off more has been shown to help that. With HIV, and gay men the options are really limited, its no sex, condom sex, or PrEP, thats it. With doctors some people are not nearly blunt enough, and people forget that the patient is a customer, they have the right to get the service they request, albeit within reason. PrEP is CDC and WHO approved and sanctioned in the US, there is no reason a properly educated patient shouldn't be able to get it from their doctor. I am fully well aware of how statistics can be manipulated, but the concept of PrEP is simple, and has been shown to work for other infectious diseases. Are you an American going to Asia, or some other tropical place? you will probably go on preexposure prophylaxis for it on some antibiotic. With that said the science behind PrEP is sound, and is backed up with multiple studies, and there were not statistics released before the studies began. But really if you want to look at the flaws in Science its almost always people. Science doesnt give a shit, people are the ones who manipulate messages. Look at Michael Weinstein and the AHF, Without ANY scientific proof, he crafted a message that said PrEP wont work, and it will increase HIV infections. Sorry, but no I will go back to the science instead of him. -
Eh I dont think being slim is your issue, I have boyish looks, similar age 6' 170lbs, and I get plenty of ass.

Good reponse, and I get what you are saying. On the note of healthcare, one of the big issues doctors face everyday is patients that lie. It is VERY difficult for a doctor to treat a patient correctly if they lie. While I get it may be a difficult conversation, all patients should be 100% truthful with their doctor. As far as the reason for taking it, the reason is NOT to stay off medication the reason is to avoid contracting a virus, and there is a huge difference there. Even the results in side effects of truvada in HIV+ vs HIV- people is VERY telling. HIV- people are showing much lower rates of side effects from the medication. As far as cheering someone on, well the latest IprEX study results are in, and they actually did give 100% protection when taken correctly. Now with that said it is imperative people actually take it correctly for it to work. As you stated it is another tool in the box. However if people are not going to use condoms, its the best tool out there. -

Ive ran into this a bit from some older HIV+ guys. Not many but a few seem really bitter about PrEP, like it should have been an option for them. -
I hate to say this but being open about your status in a place like kentucky is not going to help you. With that said I wouldn't lie about it, especially if you are not on undetectable/on meds. As a young top on BBRT I would just hit up anyone you can. There are tons of bottoms on BBRT, and Im sure you can get action there. On Adam do a search that includes "anything goes" its under the advanced search. You may have to reach out to people to get started, but you should be able to get regulars then.
