Seems like there are a ton of gays in Canada, the UK and Europe as well as Australia... Pretty much everywhere. So I don't think it is mostly a US thing at all. Some parts of the world though, it is still very repressed... China and a lot of the rest of Asia, Russia, a lot of Mexico and South and Central America. And Africa too I think. Lots of AIDS stigma.
