  1. I totally agree. The obvious connection between them elevates it to a whole different level.
  2. I’ve reached the age when all I require is that he can stand unaided and has all his own teeth.* * Negotiable.
  3. I always adopt a “when in Rome” attitude while I’m in the States. I probably err on the side of caution and tip a bit too generously, to be honest. 😂
  4. Look, my great-great-aunt really did fall off her skateboard that day and had to be rushed to hospital. You do believe me, don’t you…?
  5. I think those of us not from the States are already bemused by the tipping culture without an added complication. I love the States and adore New York - I’m back there in a few weeks - but visits are usually tinged with a worry about tipping: is it enough? What’s 20% of that bill? Should it be more…? 😬 Seriously, I’m not sure what to advise though I’m minded to think I’d probably handle it the same way and not tip if I felt it was unfair or gratuitous.
  6. It’s very sad to see how much Blackpool has declined. That said, the PA (Prince Albert) Hotel is well worth a visit…
  7. I’ve just started using Surfshark VPN and it’s working fine for me, too.
  8. Is Sailors still there? I used to spend a lot of time in East London back in the day but haven’t been for ages. The Pride of Stepney was also great back then. The Fort, too, also no longer with us, alas…
  9. I saw it first on a Transatlantic flight, too. Then again, some months later. I can’t honestly say if they were different versions, although it didn’t really hold my attention the second time and I wasn’t fully concentrating.
  10. More cock. Less booze. Second thoughts, forget the last one…
  11. That’s really interesting about Sheffield because pre-2020 they really were worth the journey. But it was actually promoted back then. Times change, I guess.
  12. They tried it twice in Manchester and both times it was a flaccid affair. In contrast, the Sheffield ones (just over the Pennines) were great. At least, pre-Covid - I haven’t been since. Of course, Manchester was notoriously pretty much bareback city before it became more mainstream, so that might explain the failure. When your unique selling point isn’t unique, it’s a pretty uphill battle to make a success.
  13. They don’t mention this as one of the perks of Prime membership.
  14. Thank you. That’s very helpful.
  15. Which app or site did you use to create those? They are excellent. I’ve been using Bing and getting some good results, but they’re a bit stern on the censorship front.
  16. There are bathroom signs you can buy that read: “Stand closer. It’s shorter than you think.” There’s many a truth told in jest…
  17. I quite agree. Too many guys on the apps now think the definition of a man is "a life support machine for a penis".
  18. In addition to what I've already posted, I'd tell him "Go to New York much, much earlier than I did because the city will get under your skin in a way no other city ever will and you'll fall in love with it."
  19. An interesting post, especially as I’ve just watched the new documentary about Rock Hudson today (which is brilliant, by the way). The crisis galvanised me. I refused to be cowed and became quite active in fundraising and raiding awareness. As I was never “in” (friends joke I was cruising the doctor as I came out of the womb), going into the closet that I’d never been in wasn’t on my agenda. But I understand why some guys felt they had to. The media in the UK in the early days was pretty horrific.
  20. You make interesting points. I guess we’ve probably all been guilty at some point in not updating profile pictures. I know I have. I don’t believe I’ve ever misrepresented how I look, though, and I’ve been very fortunate not to change much in the last 15 years - except perhaps I’m slimmer and more muscular than I was then.
  21. This idea of secret codes always reminds me of my mother’s friend who moved to a new neighbourhood in the 70s. She and her husband were unaware that the cul-de-sac they’d moved too had an active swingers scene. Back then, car keys were the, er, key to hooking up. The men would all put their car keys in a bowl and the women would pick out the keys belonging to the guy they intended to shag. My mum’s friend was blissfully unaware of this. So, when a man who clearly wanted her to pick his keys up, sauntered past and “casually” dropped his keys in front of her before walking away, she plucked them up and shouted out, “Oi, you’ve just dropped your bloody car keys, you daft sod.” I believe they were not invited again.
  22. You’re absolutely right. Airport hotels - or even hotels mainly used by cabin crew in a city - are fertile ground. Open Grindr around Heathrow and you’re knee deep in cock.
  23. I think I’ve told the story on here before of a guy I hooked up with in Greenwich, London. It was the days of telephone ads and pre-apps. After our first meeting, he put some money in my hand - about £80, which was a lot back then. Thinking he’d misunderstood the terms of our meeting, I told him I didn’t expect anything in return, but he insisted I take it. It dawned on me that he got off in treating me like a paid whore. I was conflicted about it at first but rationalised it wasn’t for me to judge. I saw him a few times after that, not for the money but because he was fit. And each time the £80 was handed over. I put it to the massive phone bill I’d run up on the chat lines!
  24. As someone planning on making regular trips to NYC, I’m also grateful for the information,
