I think sharing someone you love--or even slightly like--is very hot. The mistake many people make is that love and sex are the same thing. To respons to the OP's question and comment: I would say the reason you see more open relationships in the longer existing ones is that 1) they have the advantage of time and experience, and 2) they are not bound by the sexually suffocating ideas of the Church that you should have one mate and it should be monogamous. I think a good deal of the monogamy amoung younger guys is driven by that attempt to blend gay marriage in with the already proven failure os the hetro marraige formula. Guys are simply not built to be monogamous and, unlike the more nest driven females guys can easily separate the pleasure act of sex from the relationship arena. That is, we understand  Lust and Love are not synonyms as they are marketed by society, but can co-mingle. Having tried the monogamy thing for a couple years (and even then it wasn't 100%)I can safely say I am wired to enjoy guys the way nature intended.
