    Probably more so then than now Most, if not all, men are either undetectable or on Prep. So far that has been my experience you have to remember this forum is a very small subculture and is not reflective of most HIV+ men

    If I am reading you correctly, your baseline eGFR was 84 and you dropped 13 and now 71. Correct? Can I ask your age? According to a UCSF study in 2016 it was shown that those with a baseline <90 need to be monitored closely every 3 months because those individuals were most likely to show a decline in EGFR. Also those older than 50 years of age. That was my issue. My eGFR fluctuates between 70-80 and my dr advised me that Prep wasn’t for me. I still bareback and accept the risks. I’d rather get HIV than go on dialysis i can live a relatively active and healthy life with HIV can’t do that when your kidneys are shot Also, Descovy should be coming out soon as another option. It has shown to be less toxic on the kidneys

    Maybe I’m missing something but a creatinine clearance of 112 is within normal values. on my lab values it ranges from 70-1.25 before being flagged

    I’m reading that the Descovy trials have been very positive and it works as good as Truvada. It has also been shown to be less toxic on your kidneys and bone density. Gilead is suppose to seek FDA approval to use as Prep by the end of the year. Not sure if that is really true or speculation. I also heard some doctors are already providing it’s use as “off label” for Prep Has anyone else heard that??

    If I met someone I cared about their HIV status would not be a factor period whether I was on Prep or not. If they were undetectable i wouldn’t need Prep anyway

    Yes 442 Natoma Its closing and I believe they are having back to back Saturday and Sunday Here’s the deal, I find most, if not all, are medicated and undetectable. You may catch something but the chances of it being HIV are nil. Also, so many men in SF Bay Area are on Prep so HIV is getting harder to catch I’ve gone to a lot of cummunions and so far the only thing i have caught is urethritis probably from fucking a guy with a dirty ass :(,

    I do the same and I have found many men at bathhouses are either on Prep or undetectable. Despite what some of the postings indicate on this site most if not all men get on meds soon after diagnosis unless they have a suicide wish and that’s in the very small minority.

    Yes it works and is effective however it’s not for everyone. All drugs have side effects and the older you are the more likely the side effects. If I was younger there would be no issue but kidney function declines naturally with age and it does not need the additional stress of a drug that may be toxic. The drug has been studied in older 65+ adults and they are more likely to suffer kidney issues so until they come up with a drug easier on the kidneys I will hold off.
