I have a question for all of you guys out there that are chasers...do you understand all of the implications, financial and medical responsibilities of becoming poz?

I have always been a bareback bottom. For a lot of years I was lucky and did not contract HIV even though I got fucked and bred on a pretty regular basis. Hell, I'd even go as far as taking the condom off of a Top if he put one one. I wanted to feel his cock inside of me, not latex. If I wanted latex, I'd use a dildo...and I'm not super fond of those.

Sometime around 2007 I took the load that changed my life...forever. I met this really hot guy at a local Indy gay bar (The 501 if you are interested). We ended up back at his apartment and things got hot and heavy pretty quickly. He asked if I played safe...I told him I preferred bareback. He put some bareback porn on the TV, we got naked and had some mind blowing sex. We fucked all over his apartment...ending up on the couch, me on my back with my legs on his shoulders as he pounded his big, hard cock relentlessly into my willing, hungry fuckhole. Just as he started to cum, he blurted out that he was dumping his poz seed inside me. I had a moment of panic, but my body responded by ejaculating the biggest load of cum I had ever shot. I had never thought of myself as a "chaser", but I guess my body did.

A couple of weeks passed and I didn't get the fuck flu, so I thought I was OK. About 2 months after, I got sick. But I just thought it was the normal flu. I was down for a couple of days like I normally am when I get sick, so I passed it off as nothing. I had NO idea...

Fast forward to 2011. I was a truck driver and had been for years. One morning starting out my regular route, I ended up having an accident and rolled my truck. I was taken to the local hospital. I wasn't injured, but it was a precaution because of the accident. They did a bunch of tests and such...and at one point one of the doctors ordered an HIV test because he said my white blood cell count was very low. I thought nothing of it because I'd had a physical a few weeks before, including STD tests (my GP didn't order an HIV test though...fucker) and it had all came back fine. I got discharged from the hospital and went home. 3 days later I got THE call...and my world changed.

My first visit to my infectious disease doctor after another round of blood tests told a grim tale. Not only was I HIV+, but I had full blown AIDS. My VL was 187,000 and my CD4 was 125. NOT GOOD! Needless to say I was freaking out and nervous as hell about what my life would be like now. Luckily my doctor was aggressive and immediately put me on Atripla. Within 90 days my VL was down to 75 and my CD4 had come up to 225. Now almost 7 years into this I am undetectable (Zero copies of the virus) and my CD4 is close to 500.

I have been lucky. I have great insurance to pay for my meds and Bristol Myers gives me a co-pay card to cover what my insurance doesn't...but do you realize how fucking expensive this drug is? If I didn't have insurance, I'd be paying almost $1700 a month for my health! I'd have little to nothing left for bills, living expenses, food, etc...

So...if you are a chaser, what are your thoughts on what happens after you contract HIV? Are you prepared for the cost? Are you prepared to tell your family and friends? Are you prepared to tell EVERY potential lover that you are HIV+? In most states it is a felony to not disclose your HIV status to the potential sexual partner. Do you plan to tell, or just stealth others...put this burden on them? Are you ready to get tested every 6 months and see your doctor on a regular basis? By the way...infectious disease doctors are not cheap either...

I have to say, if I had the chance to go back...I wouldn't have let that guy cum inside me. Moot point now...but it is what it is.

So what are your thoughts, guys? I'm just curious...

It's diffident for us guys over in Europe as visiting a sexual Heath clinic is open to everyone no fees to pay and all meds + prep for HIV is available free of charge to us here.  Might be the reason why we feel more relax about fucking raw here

I'm happy that you're healthy today. It had to be terrifying. I think more poz guys should share this kind of story. Our goal should be no new cases of HIV... there's no "benefits" to this burdensome disease.

My story isn't so different except that most of the time I was the top, but between 1998 and 2007 I went from safe only to don't ask bareback, so probably later in that period I caught the bug. Point is in late February this year I had to be admitted to hospital for double pneumonia of a type only affecting people with full blown AIDS. So far this year my insurance has covered 100% of my meds but leaves me paying 100% of lab costs, but I probably blew through my deductible with my 10 days in hospital. Expensive doesn't begin to cover it. Whether it's worth it or not depends on your state of mind.

So...if you are a chaser,...

I've never been able to understand chasers mainly because the fetish is finite and it ends once you poz. Unlike the fetish of being a cum-hungry bottom that can last for ever. You can poz and keep taking loads in your cum-hungry hole.

I'm no fan of pozing because of all the issues stated by bottomBBboi. Yes, once you poz the idea is that you are free to have sex but that's only true of you forget about all other STD.

In terms of the cost, sorry to tell you but the problem is that you live in the US, the so-called most powerful country in the World. I live in Canada and have watched in amazement how so many Americans associate Universal Healthcare with a lack of freedom, and thus reject it. I would think that most people who live in developed countries think of Americans as crazy for being so gullible and for believing that insurance companies have better intentions than the government.

This is a very good question.  I have been chasing for about a year, with no luck.  I do understand the cost associated with it, and I currently do have insurance which would help at least some.  With all the current crap going on with healthcare, I have to question my desires though.

Universal medical is NOT free. The tax payers in your countries pay for it. So chasers in those countries put the burden of their actions and their disease on everyone else. I believe in personal responsibility...if you play, you pay. That is exactly why Universal Healthcare is frowned upon in this country. It is not the responsibility of the taxpayers to pay for anyone's irresponsibility. Plus in the end, when the government decides that paying for you is too expensive or that you are a drain on the system, they make the call on ending your care and your life. Sure, our system here isn't the best and I'm not claiming that it is, but we are in the process of trying to get it fixed. If more competition is introduced into the market, insurance companies would be forced to lower their costs and so would doctors and hospitals. Universal Healthcare is lack of freedom...I want medical professionals making medical decisions, not government bureaucrats. "The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other peoples money" ~Margaret Thatcher.

The biggest problem with any healthcare is the companies making the drugs who make the most profit out of any one, they can't make money from a cure. For my reason if I did end being poz one day I would not take the drugs as I wouldn't let them make a profit out of me. I don't really care if I live or die tomorrow as the world is getting a nastier place by the day and I can only see even more problem ahead when we all loose our jobs to robots and modern technologies.

Bet you get a lot of hate for saying that, but it's the truth.

I disagree with everything but personal responsibility should come into play.

Insurance companies will never lower prices they are in it to make money and cover themselves this is perfect the way the US system is laid out so it's not going to change unless it moves to non insurance system.

You sound like one of those people that do conspiracy stuff the government is not going to just cut you off if the system is in place correctly but it's not it goes back to you still have insurance system so that is how government works to run it through insurance.

I am from country some would class as poorer nation Thailand and the health care here is far better than US we knew changes need to be made and did them so the universal system is very good for the funds we have available.

What do you think of NHS? and not coming from doom and gloom stories media tries to portray this is like tax payers system (I am currently training in NHS my English is not the best and updating from Thai to UK system before i can get the job type I had back home which was Tropical/Infectious disease)

Universal healthcare is frowned on in the US because we believe people who are poor must have done something to deserve it and that insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies deserve to make outrageous profits. We pay so much more for our crummy healthcare than places that have universal. Everyone would be healthier and we would spend less money if most of our legislators were not beholden to special interests.

I won't pay any out of pocket medical cost, just my insurance premium of $116 per month.Policy can't be cancelled, premium can't be raised, so cost isn't an issue for me. As to telling people, most people already assume I'm poz. I live in a place where disclosure is not required, and I won't volunteer the information. Mostly, I will hook up with others who are chasing. there's more chasers than gifters, so I will be fine with future fuckbuds. I'm not looking for love.

Universal Healthcare is not free, but healthcare is one of the best candidates for "entitlements" because with the exception of "chasers" most people avoid getting sick. Many entitlements provided with tax money are subject to abuse but not healthcare.

I know Americans are proud of their freedom but I prefer to have less American-style freedom and live in a country with Universal Healthcare.

People remain overweight throughout their adult lives and become diabetic.
People use/abuse tobacco and develop mouth, throat, and lung cancer.
People use/abuse alcohol and develop dozens of different chronic conditions.
People play violent contact sports and develop mental and physical conditions related to them.
People participate in various extreme sports and need joint replacement in their 30s and 40s instead of their 60s and 70s.

There are lot of people outside of chasers who do not do all they could to avoid being sick. These people are also a larger burden on the healthcare system than they might be if they had made healthier choices.
