I'm not a size queen, I prefer somewhere between 5-8 inches, and reasonable girth, but.... size definitely matters at both ends of the spectrum (and I've encountered both quite a few times), it can just be impractical. 

 

6 or 7 inches in length by about 4 to 5 in circumference is about ideal. Technique, position and angles matter also, but that size range is about right imho
