I’m looking for other peoples experience with poppers.

Here in the UK, the poppers you can generally buy in sauna’s etc are pretty crap. They are not very strong, the bottle cap forever breaks, spilling contents when I’m being fucked senseless. I find they evaporate quickly and burn my index finger and nostrils on occasion. When I lived in Australia the poppers were much stronger, though popper burn occurred more often. 
I hate the glass bottles they come in. A bloke just fucked me in the sauna here and passed me a french brand in a plastic bottle. Has any of you any experience of the plastic bottled ones? Are they better? Would it be worth paying for poppers from the continent? 
Have you experience of the different formulas? I think 1 is banned in most countries. 
Finally, do you know of any permanent poppers container that can be purchased?  One that has a good solid top, less likely to spill. 
Any input would be gratefully received.

This is not so much my "experience with poppers" (don't use them), but commentary about expectations.

For starters: these are generally speaking unregulated chemical products - there's no FDA or OSHA or EPA (in the US; EU and other regions may vary) regulations on what exactly they are made of, how potent they can be, quality control measures, or anything else. Companies can and do change up formulas, they can make formulas incorrectly, and you honestly have no way of knowing that what you get in bottle A is even close to what you got last year in identically labeled bottle B. That said, certain chemicals may be banned entirely from sale to the public in certain jurisdictions, but not others, and it's possible as well that what Big Popper Company sells as "Formula 1" in the US is different from what it sells as "Formula 1" in Australia or Germany or wherever.

Second; I imagine they're in glass bottles for a reason. A glass bottle is less likely to split open and spill its contents, less likely to degrade from the effects of the chemical, easier to seal tightly, and so forth. I would imagine that plastic containers would be much more problematic. Any "permanent" poppers container would almost certainly be made of glass for that reason.

most poppers i find just dont connect with me, i have never enjoyed bottoming on poppers. The only brand that connects with me is Berlin XXX and this is especially good when on weed. But as you say, they dont last long and popper burn is annoying, try putting a piece of tissue over it between ur nose. Overall i think because they banned a certain chemical in UK and other countries that the poppers we have now just arent as good, not much we can do.  I mostly use poppers for a private wank when i want to have a smoke and get fucked up and nasty with filthy porn.

Yeah, I miss the old brand and smell of poppers. Walking into a sauna steam room and that old poppers smell was awesome, I just automaticaly bent over and enjoyed poppered fucking.

You mention that poppers were stronger when you lived in Australia. There is, I believe, a joint therapeutics regulatory arrangement between Australia and New Zealand and those strong poppers may now be a memory in both countries. After a period of allowing weaker formulas I think, alas, that Australia and now NZ have phased all poppers out or are in the process of doing so.

We have pretty good poopers in the US. My old go to was English Premium Gold. They were very strong poppers but they did tend to burn your nostrils. My new go to is Double Scorpio. They're not quite as strong as English Premium but they don't burn your nostrils and their aromas are actually pretty great. I'm not sure if they ship outside of the US though.

I've tried the Double Scorpio (just last night opened a new bottle) and they don't really do much for me.  Seems every batch I get from any company is less effective that the last.

Hey guys! I have never been much of a "popper" user - but I know many guys use and enjoy them. Does anyone know the long-term (e.g. health) implications of their use? I am concerned by the lack of regulation and the "grey" area identified above regarding consistency of formula, etc.

Are there long term side-effects? What are they are? Are they pretty standard or are they as varied as the use of chemicals and formulas?

I have tried using them, but I was always turned off by the bad breath one had after a few "hits". Any feedback or resources to review would be appreciated. Thanks!!

There are very few clinical studies, if any, done regarding popper use, just like there are very few clinical studies done for inhaling paint fumes or swallowing lye soap. 

As for consistency of formula and regulations, etc.: it's one step above bathtub gin and outhouse crystal meth. There's nothing to stop Big Popper Co. Inc. from sending out a thousand bottles of "X brand video head cleaner" (because of course there are still so many video cassette players in service) that contain nothing but turpentine. Or diluted Lysol concentrate. Or whatever else they might have on hand. Do they? Probably not. Are you willing to risk snorting something based on trusting the company not to have screwed up some formula?

Long-term side effects haven't been identified again because there are no studies about what the long term effects of inhaling solvents deliberately at close range might be. I think common sense would tell anyone that given how fast they distort your brain cells when you use them, there's almost certainly going to be slow, microscopic, but steady damage over time, but then the people who need to hear that message have almost certainly snorted too many bottles of solvents to be able to grasp the elementary logic there.

Poppers in the UK are butyl nitrite these days I believe, which has the same vasodilating effect of amyl nitrite without the depressant effects. Amyls were before my time and I never really got the "high" from poppers. They've always been a utility drug for me to help open my ass up.

My superb sexual health clinic in Clapham Junction always ask about my eyesight when i go for a routine check up. They know I use poppers and they know about a link between poppers and vision loss - the NHS released a study ten years ago that points to a correlation).

Two years ago, the Australian Dept. of Health analyzed samples of poppers available for purchase both within the country and from overseas. Eight samples of poppers, labelled as "leather cleaner," were purchased from local adult stores. All of the products represented in the labelling that they contained "alkyl nitrite." Isobutyl nitrite was identified as the single major ingredient in all of the products. Ten samples were obtained from overseas retailers. Five samples contained isopropyl nitrite, and the other five contained isoamyl nitrite (aka isopentyl nitrite). Eight of the ten contained the type of nitrite claimed on the label. The other two, stating the ingredient was pentyl nitrite, actually contained isopentyl nitrite.

Isobutyl nitrite was designated as a cancer causing agent in 2006 in the UK, and isopropyl nitrite replaced it as the active ingredient. After isopropyl nitrite became the most commonly used compound in poppers, doctors in the UK and in France were seeing patients who had used poppers and now had impaired vision. There wasn't anything like a "smoking gun," but the patients' medical histories and use of poppers suggested that isopropyl nitrite affected the retina in a way that isobutyl nitrite did not.
