  1. Decent article, but IMO it should also focus more on the details like it estimated that only 30% of people who are HIV+ in the US are undetectable and controlling the virus. Its just like anything else if you take good care of your health, you are going to live longer. With HIV+ guys who take their health seriously they are just forced to with regular doctors visits. In contrast I know straight guys who havent been to the doctor in 5+ years.
  2. ive been on PrEP for over 2.5 years and have missed less than 5 doses total in that period, so im pretty confident.
  3. same here, but for me it also depends on the person. If the guy has a bigger body type im more likely to bottom. I just dont enjoy fucking large ass's that much. If its a more thin guy with a nice ass, its just on the person. I prefer to flip, but can only top or only bottom
  4. ding ding. If you know its not going to work just say, look, this isn't what I expected and let it go. you will feel much better about yourself afterwards. If you two are fucking, and its awful, stop, and say you need to go to the bathroom. Make up any excuse, dick hurts, stomach ache if topping, bleeding, nauseous if bottoming, and say you cant continue, apologize, and get your things, or motion for him to leave if he's at your place. By doing it this way, you avoid some awkward convo's and still end the scene. There really is no point in continuing if its that bad, will he get off? maybe, but does it matter? end it asap, and move on without feeling bad about it. Even if the guy is hot, not everyone is compatible, and it may just be a case like that.

If anything IMO they did it because of the stuff like ashley madison in the news. Additionally while I think a raid like this is stupid this day and age, rentb-y was VERY flagrant about what it was. The #1 issue is that rentb-y was national/international. Most the of the equivalent female sites are local, this is exactly why the feds got involved. Additionally rentb-y was flagrant as fuck, If you look at similar sites based on female escorts, its much more of a "do you want a date for the evening type scenario" Not okay this is my hourly rate, heres my cock, heres what I do sexually. Thats where rentb-y crossed the line. Do I agree with it? no, but I also think they were lucky they got away with it for this long. If the company had been more discreet in what they did, and advertised, dates for men who like other men, and didn't allow nudity in its profiles, I bet even with its national presence the raid wouldn't have happened. Given laws in the US Im amazed they lasted this long. we can argue why it lasted this long, but it was a blatant prostitution website. Lawyers can and will argue otherwise, but I am sure the evidence against them is overwhelming. EXACTLTY!! I should have quoted you before, lol Nope, they were just a direct easy target because they were national. I did some searches and couldn't find a straight equivalent of rentb-y. all of them were locally based.
  6. Exactly. Its good progress, but I cant say that it give me tons of hope. HIV is a very difficult virus, and while we have had tons of advances, there is still a lot we dont know.
  7. Its estimated about 30% of people get sick like this. But this is also one of the major reasons HIV is a such an issue. For those 70% of people that get little to no symptoms, they have no idea they are infected, and thus its much more likely that they will infect others. Of the people I know that poz, most didn't have many symptoms of the initial infection.
  8. The field of virology still has a way to go to understanding viral infections. There are tons of variations in common viral infections, and some your body can easily control, others it cannot. However this is also what makes PrEP so important. Its now known that HIV causes many more problems than what is immediately obvious. A case in point is PCP pneumonia. Even for guys on treatment and undetectable, almost 3/4 of HIV+ people will get PCP despite being healthy otherwise. This is why staying HIV- is so important. Your body is much more likely to be able to fight off regular infections. I've also been on PrEP for 2.5 years, and lets just say it was the best decision I have ever made.
  9. Just wait 7 days after starting to take loads, otherwise you are good. As for who to take them from? Thats completely up to you. Not everyone on PrEP turns into a cumdump. I know a lot of guys on PrEP and many just do it for a piece of mind, and dont end up changing their habits much. Other guys go wild. More than anything the best thing about PrEP is that it takes so much of the worry away. Another thing is that if you do decide to go wild you will pick up more STI's. Some people get them often, others dont. it just depends on who you are fucking and how many. Don't forget to get regular STI tests.
  10. I think it comes down to statisitical analysis of testing results, and the number of people that are on treatment. So in effect if there are stats saying 4 people got infected, and only one comes back for treatment, the other 3 are most likely detectable. This make sense considering VERY few people control HIV on their own for any long period of time. I have a friend who is HIV+ not on meds with a viral load of about 2000. Not high, and not even that infectious, but not undetectable by any definition.
  11. If you are undetectable I would pretty much fuck who you want, but stay away from guys that "party" as they are less likely to take care of their health, have other STI's, as well as HCV. Otherwise, I would fuck who you want. Cumunion is a good place to get other STI's if that bothers you, you may want to reconsider. As for who you fuck know, I cant legally advise this, but if you are undetectable the risk of you transmitting to anyone else is very low, so I'm not sure if I would discuss status unless directly asked. This is completely different than what I would have said a few years ago, but the facts are out there that undetectable gays are not spreading HIV, so if you wanna get fucked, change your profiles to vers bttm, and go from there.
  12. heres the link to his story http://forums.poz.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=c8fr5pn7evgd931l5f3k9veps6&topic=58527.0 from the thread. PrEP using Tenofovir alone was shown to not be as effective in studies as PrEP using Tenofovir+emtricitabine, so while his case is surely rare, it does make sense, as he stated in the thread. So yes, resistance does make a big difference in transmission risk, although transmission risk from someone who is undetectable on other medication is still probably negligible, whereas it would obviously be higher from someone with a HVL.
  13. I find all of these views to be fairly accurate. I also don't PNP, and am not fond of the scene. Its not the physical act of doing it, its EVERYTHING and the mountains of bullshit that come along with it. I have never seen or met a guy that PNP's with any sort of regularity that I would consider "well adjusted" The ones that do PNP tend to over do it, and eventually get way too much into the scene. Of course this is a generalization, but I have seen it happen countless times. It starts with just trying it, to not wanting to have sex unless they are partying. Then there are the health effects. You would have to be extremely dense to not realize that doing meth is bad for you. It causes severe lung damage if you smoke it, rots your teeth, and if you slam it, you are pretty much destined to get HIV and or HCV. Hep C is no joke, and is an easy way into an early grave. As the OP also noted, there is then the aspect of how sketchy some guys that party are. I've had guys flip out on me because I didn't want to do it. Mind you this was in a mixed setting where many guys were not. Inviting a whole bunch of guys over to "party" doesn't sound hot to me, it sounds like a big liability. For reference, I am also talking about meth. Yes there are other drugs that are also dangerous, and destructive, but meth is the one that many including myself consider to be a scourge on the community. I am really not trying to be judgmental, but as I said before, I have seen it all too often. Hell even going on the enhancements or hiv fetish forum on here, its obvious what a different dynamic there is. For the OP, I think its only a decision you can make on what to do with it, but as others have noted, you may just not be right for each other. Best of luck with figuring out the situation.
  14. This is spot on IMO. The problem with the "good old days" is that people were dying all over the place, and lots of other people insisted on condoms. So lack of obvious danger aside, I think today with PrEP is a MUCH better time.
  15. oh to be clear, I am taking truvada the vast majority of the time, on my regular schedule. The atripla/stribild is simply used when I am running low. and I never miss dosages.
  16. So one of the things I have done in the past is taken other medications for PrEP. What I mean by this however is that they will all contain tenofovir/emtricitabine. For example. a few months ago a friend moved away and left his bottle of atripla at my place. I asked if he wanted it mailed to him, he declined. In a few cases then when my truvada was running low I would take the atripla for a few days. A similar thing happened with another friend on stribild. My main question is: Is there any harm in this? Im negative so drug resitance isnt a problem. Yes I am taking extra medication, but I didnt suffer any side effects, so I really am not worried about that either. Any input from others on here?
  17. exactly, life is what you make of it, HIV or any other disease or not. The biggest issue with HIV is the stigma (hence the loneliness picture) I talked to several people at IML this past year and they all said PrEP has made a world of difference in sex and dating for them. PrEP made that physical and psychological barrier disappear. Before PrEP there was a lot more "status segregation" Now, people dont care nearly as much.
  18. hahaha, yeah I am aware of all of this. I pretty much come here for the info that people wont readily tell me in the medical community. One thing I really hope is pushed through the approval pipeline is long acting injectable drugs. Not just for PrEP but for HIV treatment as well. IMO that could be the single biggest breakthrough in stopping HIV.
  19. I can wholly agree with this.
  20. Agree 100%. Although its certainly not at the acceptance level of what some on here think. I have a good friend that is a vers bttm on PrEP, and he has asked me repeatedly why I let HIV+ guys cum in me. I explain the science, but he still doesn't change his mind. There is also the initial convo about HIV that still sucks nomatter how it goes. Unless you only fuck with poz guys, HIV can still be a lonely very private disease.
  21. I get what he was trying to go for, but saying all of those things are "positive life changes" is a bit rich... Im not trying to be a "mean guy" but anyone who pretends there multiple positive life changes with HIV is lying to themselves. The only positive change for some people is that they never have to think about being infected again. The benefits pretty much end there, especially with PrEP as an option.
  22. While it is very rare to be resistant to both, it is one of the driving forces behind the only documented infections on people taking PrEP as directed. I have talked to professionals about this and am 100% sure of it. Resistance to both means viral mutation that can in essence circumvent PrEP. While this is VERY rare IMO its something to think about. My main concern however is that he is a young healthy guy that has his entire life ahead of him, and I dont want him to have to deal with drug resistance issues when it is needless.
  23. This is pretty much what I was thinking as well. My more selfish reason is that I really dont want him to become resistant to emtricitabine or tenofovir, as they isnt exactly good for our sex life and me on PrEP. I think I am just going to get him something to help him remember. He loves gadgets, so maybe there is something that will help.
  24. So I have a friend who is HIV+, Healthy and undetectable. However he has one problem in that he isnt always the best about taking his medication. He usually forgets about once a week, sometimes twice a week. AFAIK, he hasnt had any issue with this yet, and he is still on the same therapy (stribild) that he has been on for years. My main question is, what are the potential effects of this, and is he doing significant risk to his long term health by not being more conscience about taking his medication. He's not a large guy, so I would assume the blood serum level of any medication would be fairly high to begin with, but Im not sure if that would correspond to less chance of resistance.
  25. oraquick is an antibody test, and antibodies dont go away, so anyone who is undetectable is going to produce a reactive oraquick. HOWEVER.... what I just wrote and is 99% true isnt always true. Just like many other diseases and conditions, sometimes the antibodoes go away over time. it takes years and sometimes decades but it can happen. In that case if the person was HIV+ they would have to be healthy and undetectable for many many years before there is even a chance of that happening, and even in that case its quite rare for it to happen.
