I think you guys are being too hard on @jeff238 if he is trying to hookup in the PNW, either on the apps or in person he is used to dealing with sides that won't take no for an answer and especially in person, waste your time and cock block you by trying to convince you they know ways to have the greatest sex of your life if you promise not to touch their icky dick or ask them to touch yours. It is a relatively new term, for an old problem. What it means to the sides themselves seems to vary as well, some guys using the label claim they do everything but anal, others interpret it as no anal or oral penetration. Where I live it seems to be mostly guys that do neither oral or anal that have adopted the term, guys that do oral get offended if someone calls them a side, and guys that call themselves sides get offended by the idea that being a side includes doing oral. Guys that don't do penetration of any kind have been in the majority on the apps, in the bathhouses, at the ABS and anywhere men go to look for a hookup, as long as I've lived here so it is just a new term for an old problem. I guess it is a bit nicer than calling them "functionally lesbian" which is what I called them for years before they invented the side label. Personally I avoid anyone who self identifies as a side, even if their definition includes doing oral, we simply are not going to be sexually compatible if they don't fuck or get fucked which is extremely frustrating for me.

I'm firmly in the "yes", and "it depends". It only works for me if I am somewhere I can hookup successfully in a short amount of time. I have been dealing with some high stress at work for about a month now, and am at home in Portland this week, where I probably won't even try to hookup as a coping mechanism. While it might work out (it did actually happen this weekend when I wasn't as desperate as I am right now), the odds are definitely against me. I will more likely wind up giving up after a couple of hours even more frustrated than I am right now in one or a combination of scenarios: 1) I'm the only one at what ever cruising venue(s) I try; 2)there will be other cruiser, but no one is hooking up or are there just for attention not a physical act and relief; 3)someone who doesn't fuck will take an interest in me and try to convince me there way of not fucking is infinitely better and will have to leave because they won't accept no for an answer, and because guys here don't generally like groups no one else will even approach while you are engaged by the time waster. Alternatively I was working at the client location for the last 2 weeks and even though I didn't really know where to go I was able to instinctively sniff out the locations where like minded guys go to fuck or at least suck out their frustrations and was able to find a couple of spots where I could be fucking or getting fucked within 15 -20 minutes. I've taken advantage of it a time or twenty over the course of the weeks I've worked in other locations this summer. Pure guesses on my part after 36 years of being a complete slut combined with a job that involved extensive travel within North America. There are area where gaining the reputation of cumdump works against you.
