I've also seen interviews with Chi Chi LaRue where she is very anti-bareback as well. It depends on the studio, I guess. I know we are all a bunch of sleazy bareback whores deep down inside, but this thread is, in part, why sites like this should exist. I came of age sexually in the mid-90s. There was still a huge amount of stigma from the dark days of HIV/AIDS in the 80s, so much of the sex education for gay men (that we learned from the free clinic and university campus groups) at that time basically amounted to: if you bareback even once, you'll get HIV. BBRT has become notorious for this lately. Can't tell you how many times this has happened recently. It's one thing if something is done/said in the arranging to put you off, but at least say so. I agree with everyone that's posted (thanks for all of that gents). I think it's primarily location, and then competition. Even on my last Berlin trip 2 years ago; I had more men in a weekend than ever before, but I find I had to work much harder (thank goodness for the slimmer body!). As I get older and now approach 40, I find the competition more off-putting than before. There's always been that competitiveness even back in my 20s, but PrEP has magnified that exponentially. Mine was quite bad, but not hospital bad (thankfully). It wasn't really flu-like in the sense of having congestion or anything like that. My biggest problem was having really bad night sweats. I'd wake up at around 2 or 3 a.m. to find my entire body, sheets, clothes, and even hair completely soaked. I had longer hair at the time, and I distinctly remember being able to grab a pony-tail sized portion and being able to actually wring it out - complete with dripping and such. In conjunction, I had lost pretty much all of my appetite and lost around 10 kg inside of a week. This made going out and about difficult as I felt constantly weak to the point where I couldn't stand for longer than 5 min. at a time. I knew when I went to the urgent care clinic after that first bad night what the issue was going to be. The doctor I saw that visit was very calming, and really helped put me at ease; I was pretty scared at this point. They called me to go back in about 2 days later to break the news - unfortunately this was a different doctor and she was less than helpful, and that's putting it nicely. I'm all for this idea as well; the trick is not having last minute cancellations where there is a high risk of finding no replacement. Any penalty at that point should be quite severe. I say this because I'm part of some other (non-sexual) meetup groups and last-minute cancellations happen all the time. It's for a sports thing, so it makes numbers uneven and leads to coming up with convoluted solutions to make it work. Every other idea would be fantastic. I feel there's very little left for me to add that hasn't been said my many of you fine gentlemen already. In visiting bathhouses/saunas/sex clubs over the last 15 years, I've certainly been annoyed often. That being said, I wouldn't trade any of those experiences for anything in the world. I think these places actually have quite a few advantages over the apps/websites/etc., so it's disappointing to see bathhouses becoming rarer in many cities (especially in the US). As for my annoyances: 1. Competitive bottoms: I've actually noticed this getting worse post-PrEP. It's made more guys feel comfortable getting fucked bareback, so there available pool has gotten larger. I still get my action; it just means I have to work a little harder to get it. 2. I guess in this specific scenario, I'd be a bit skittish over having the no control part. To be fair, you were (and presumably are) not opposed to biting per se, just not in certain places.
