A good rule of thumb, if I'm topping is unless I know the guy was just fucked to at least go slow on the insertion. If I discover he is already loose and wet, there is no need to ease into it, but if he isn't at least loose I need to pause and allow his hole to relax. Since I prefer to fuck guys in sex clubs or at orgies a lot of them will already be loose and ready to take a pounding. My 1st question is how much time are you spending outside of Seattle and the greater PNW? I know you mentioned going to IML, but wonder how many days you spent in Chicago. It depends on how loose the bottom is. If the hole, including my own, has been recently well used there is really no need to ease into the fuck, but if the hole is tight and tense you need to take it easy. It really isn't pleasurable to top a tight tense bottom, so unless you are a sadist there is really no pleasure in hurting a tight fuck hole. -

I went to Palm Springs over the 4th of July last year, and it was brutal in both good and bad ways. I've thought a little about moving there, but can't get past the climate, I actually enjoy all 4 seasons and don't deal well with extreme heat, and it looks like it would a little higher cost of living (I may want to retire in the next 10 years). I'm lucky enough to be able to live anywhere with my current job and am probably looking at somewhere back in the Midwest since all of my family lives there and my job is based out of MN, plus both the sex and cost of living would be better there than here. If I don't go to the Midwest, I will probably move back to CO, the sex has always been good for me there, I love the climate, and the cost of living is pretty comparable to here. The sex probably isn't going to be as good as it is in Palm Springs in any of the places I'm considering, but I at least have always had better luck in the cities I'm considering than I do here.

Sounds like a great time. I need to figure out a summer sexcation too. My biggest problem is limited time, and need to spend it working towards relocating to somewhere I can get more casual sex on a regular basis, and as much Palm Springs has been good to me for sex I don't think it is where I want to live. Another change, not sure it qualifies as a trend, is presence of FTM and more recently MTF that still have their male sexual equipment (I'm not sure why they would want to go to a gay sex club, but Hawks PDX has made an effort to make them feel welcome) in gay sex clubs. To be fair the vast majority of them were not old enough to go to sex clubs 10 years ago.

Maybe they will go with "power cuddler" instead. Locally that term seems to be more popular than "side". I've been to CumUnions in several cities since the end of COVID, with varied success. The 1st post COVID CumUnion and 1st ever at Steam Portland was in the top 5 best ever for Portland, but all that I have been to since were pretty much complete blue ball fests (I was out of town fucking my brains out the night of the 1st post CumUnion at Hawks PDX, so I have no idea whether it was good but the more recent ones have been more blue ball fests than they were prior). First post COVID (and only post one I've attended there) CumUnion party at Steamworks in Seattle was a complete blue ball fest and the best one I've been to there. LAX Sanctuary (I've only made it to 1 post COVID party)slightly below average by pre COVID standards still a lot more fucking than at really good CumUnion in Portland or Seattle. CCBC in Palm Springs slightly above the pre COVID average (but I've only been to 1 post COVID), I had a lot of fun. Sniffles is worthless here unless you want to video chat or are looking for a platonic cuddle buddy. -
Yet this region is known for its surplus of bottoms, which makes me seriously question it. I think some area have a severe deficit of DTF guys, bottom, top and versatile.
