    I have written about this before, but I had to deal with a case of secondary syph a few years ago. I am not sure when I picked it up because the original chancre was almost certainly up my butt. In the summer of 2010, I got a rash on my arms. We had been clearing brush in the yard, so I didn't think much of it. But it just kept spreading. Fortunately my doctor recognized what it was almost immediately - syphilis in stage 2. I get regularly tested for STIs now.

    If you had a negative HIV test 6 months or more after the incident, then there is no reason for worrying that you are infected from that particular sex act. Just having no symptoms does not mean you are negative. Some people have no symptoms when they seroconvert while some people get very sick. It can be anywhere in between. But if you are having symptoms NOW, there is no reason to think it has anything to do with what happened 2.5 years ago.
