    A handful of years ago I met Michael Brandon in a shop in Palm Springs. I guess I stared a little bit too long.     I am not sure that I can reduce this to a “versus” issue. There are good and bad aspects to both products. There is a lot of professional porn that I really like. Admittedly, most of what I like in the 70s and 80s and 90s. The Matt Stirling films, for instance. Films like “Killing Me Softly” which was a pornographic suspense/thriller, or “Gold Rush Boys,” a pornographic comedy. Or the spectacularly georgeous “Desert Train.” But then, you do have to deal with a lot of incredibly bad porn music. Anybody remember Jeff Stryker’s first film in which he actually sang an entire song on stage before thousands before stepping out into an alley to have sex with a fan? Unintentionally funny. I enjoy homemade porn, too, and I confess I’ve shot some. (Haven’t we all?) . Myself, I hate music in amateur vids, but some guys seem to think they’re hotter if they moan and groan in time to Brittany Spears or the latest bimbo-de-jour. It’s not hot - it’s just annoying. Additionally, The lighting can be bad, and too often the action isn’t framed well. And then there are those guys who can’t resist “acting” their way through the scene, like they were auditioning for something. Yet, when it’s good there’s a sense of immediacy, even urgency, to it, almost like looking through someone’s window or lurking in their darkened closet. It’s been said before that ninety percent of everything is crap. The adventure lies in searching for something -anything- that gets your dick up and off, be it pro porn or amateur (they call it amateur for a reason, you know). Enjoy what you like. Myself, I prefer the written word. The action is a lot hotter in my head.
