    You may want to check out Ramrod NE 4th Ave at NE 15th Street. Around 10:30, 11 pm guys start Breeding on/around the pool table. I seldom go over there during the week, but usually start the weekend nights over there for a beer. The later you stay the more action there is. There's also the "patio bar" in back where guys Breed, but it's also the "smoking section", if that matters to you. I would again mention that if you do hit Slammer (which I heartily recommend), be sure to get there no later than around 10, maybe a little after, because the parking lots fill up. Had to take the phone, wallet inside and get a lockbox. Fortunately there was still one.

    Thanks for those thoughts, BlackDude. You're entirely correct, and that is entirely regrettable. I can almost always take the bright side, or at least the hopeful side of a discussion, but I'm beginning to wonder lately. You already know how this country was founded, built, and that terrible fault has yet to be ameliorated. Worse, there are politicians actually defending the depravity of white privilege, and the racists, haters, the whole pot of boiling misery is getting more widespread. I'm sorry to know that there are Blacks gay guys that still want to be associated with we pale ones - we don't deserve it.

    Frankly, I was surprised that Pete got as far as he did. That speaks to his abilities, his talents, and his "heart". Being mayor of Studebaker-ville is no big feather in anyone's cap, but it was enough to get him press, and he took every advantage of that. To be clear, he lacked the depth of experience on a National Stage that most voters think a Presidential candidate needs. His present position in the Cabinet will stand him in good stead next time he runs. We haven't seen the last of him by a loooong shot, maybe even as Biden's choice for Veep running mate. I doubt that, as Kamela brings in much needed minority votes, but it could happen. And yes, I still have my "PETE" cap ready and waiting.

    Allocation of resources is a thorny issue that sorely needs to be addressed. I'm probably more liberal/progressive than a lot of Dems, but the power lies in the traditional two parties. I don't see a Libertarian being elected to high office any time soon (or, later, for that matter).

    Well said. If some of us hold the belief (with exceptions here and there, of course), that people who endorse and uphold repressive behavior against "the other" - which we certainly are - it comes from substantial experience, sometimes beginning before we even knew we were gay. I don't "hate" Republicans - I pity them. They're trapped in a cycle of reaffirming their own personal worth by belittling others unlike them. These people are cultural cyphers - there's nothing there. As far as these folks looking down their long, narrow noses at me, I don't think rats have asses tiny enough to measure how much I couldn't care less.

The comprehensive inclusion of all kinds of subject matter is a big reason a lot of us enjoy it, in that exchanging viewpoints is always a good thing. There are plenty of threads I don't follow or read at all, since they don't interest me. Maybe you could "follow" the threads you enjoy, and "unfollow" those you don't. Problem solved !!

    To the original question, folks who grow up to become R's have often been subject to indoctrination in various cultural repressions. Organized Religion, cultural hatreds, on and on, and they tend to resent those who reject those repressive institutions out of hand. They caved, and resent those who haven't. Our freedom to be free is a direct threat to those who have thrown in the cultural towel and surrendered.
