My experience has been that people are VERY encouraging when you post stories because they're hungry pigs. 🙂 If they're mean or give you unhelpful feedback just try to let it go. I've found that people can sometimes nudge something in your brain that you didn't know was there or make you go "oh, I hadn't thought of it that way." Over and over. Try to figure out where you want it to end up, but sometimes the characters will take you somewhere you didn't expect, so be open to that, too.
