  1. PrEPhas definitely allowed me to do things I had not done before. I dont know if I would call mine a "slut phase" more so I think many guys would do a whole lot more when you take the big nasty bug out of the equation. I'm still picky and am not one to be ass up at a bathhouse, but at the same time I don't worry like I used to about every detail of the situation, and instead just enjoy myself.
  2. not really true on a few parts there, the kids part has been false for a long time, If you google "sperm washing" you will see what I mean. Anyway, FWIW no one is forcing you to give up condoms, or any other protection methods. If you think they work for you, stick with it. In my circumstance my adoption of a "free-er" lifestyle post PrEP wasn't immediate. In fact it was a good nine months before I really went a bit nuts for a bit. With that said, after PrEP, I didnt worry anymore.
  3. Heres the info you are looking for. Mind you it really doesnt mean much. It can happen the first exposure, or you can be exposed for decades. http://www.poz.com/pdfs/P04-14p53.risk_transmission.pdf
  4. Its completely up to you at this point. If you stay on PrEP and take it consistently as directed there is very little chance you will become poz. With that said some things are better left as a fantasy. You can have all the fun right now without the major consequence. Here's a couple quick thoughts on the issue. I've worked in HIV outreach and education before, and have NEVER ran into someone who didn't wish they could go back to being HIV negative. While the idea of some things may be really hot, its important to look at the long term picture. For example what if you meet the perfect guy, and he's HIV-, and cant commit because you are HIV+. Or what if you are one of the people who doesn't respond well to the main line treatments? Those are very real scenario's that you have the ability to keep yourself from experiencing. HIV is much easier to deal with today, but its still no cakewalk, and there is still a great deal of discrimination against people that are HIV+ out there. Oh and it can also end up being very costly. If I were you I would stay on PrEP, and have a good time that way.
  5. I get it in theory, and I guess in some way I have had some envy before, but its goes away pretty quickly. Being a pig has nothing to do with being poz, other than a side effect, and with PrEP, I suspect in time that will change. I have a few good friends/fuck buddies who are poz, and I they are big pigs but i also know neg guys (mostly those on PrEP) that are just as piggy.
  6. x2. Print it out, show it to her, and make her perscribe it for you, as long as your tests are fine. There is NO reason she cant give it to you, and dont take "let me refer you to an ID specialist" as an answer. She can do it.
  7. Again, call your doctor out, there is nothing experimental about PrEP, its a CDC approved, WHO recommended course of action. All you need to do in a situation like this is bitch and complain for lack of a better way of stating it.
  8. BS. you cant "lose" medicaid if you qualify for it? what state are you in? Additionally even with medicaid you can go to any doctor that accepts it. Remember you are in power with your doctor, and there is really no reason you even need to see an ID doc for PrEP.
  9. Turn off for me just cause Id rather them do almost anything else. Also I've had precisely three people in my life get me off from oral, and that was years ago, now I cant stand it. SO I guess for me the answer is turn off just because I don't like oral
  10. Stories like this make me happy. LOL On that note I know a really smart Harvard grad who also makes 6 figures and escorts just for fun.
  11. Why cant you afford it? There are multiple assistance programs out there depending on state, and then there is the gilead assistance program? Even if they initially deny you, or you think you don't qualify, you often just have to speak to someone about it. With that said the simple answer is you would probably want to be on a month after your last exposure, but other sources are saying about a week, as long as you were consistently dosed before.
  12. Especially in a situation where its majority rule, its not always the job of anyone to go out of their way to take a person back. That's what alternative transportation is for. Demanding to be taken home isn't taking yourself out of a situation, its demanding to be accommodated, regardless if its your BF or not. My parents have been married for over 40 years and if they are in a social situation where one isn't feeling it, they split up sometimes, and find other ways home, its not the end of the world. For me anytime I go out, even when I was in my LTR, I always had an alternative way out that involved no one else. Its the easiest way to make everyone have a good time. I'm miserable? I just go home. Additionally with apps like Uber and lyft, transportation in even more suburban settings isnt as difficult anymore. No offense, but it sounds like you have a quite a temper, and that doesn't usually work out well in light hearted social situations.
  13. I want to agree, but I have had way too many circumstances where for one reason or another the other person being a top or bottom, just doesn't work. A perfect example is a hot lil shorty that I went to fuck the other day. He said he was 100% bottom, and I was cool with that, he was just my type of bottom. Well long story short, I get there, and try for 30 mins to fuck him in everyway possible, but he just couldn't take dick. So what was I supposed to do? His dick was hard so I jumped on. Even one of my good FB's who is mostly a bottom has been topping more recently simply because it is still fun. I know its different for everyone, but my desire to top or bottom is EXTREMELY mood, and even time of day dependent, so it helps to be able to do both.
  14. Thats quite false, Most Christian faiths identify that practicing homosexual behavior is a sin, whereas just being gay is no issue. Most Christian faiths have no preconceived notion than man is going to be perfect, just that they will try. Hell even the catholic church is now softening there stance on many different things. I would probably say that being a bareback slut goes against much of what the church teaches, however faith is still very much a personal thing. I was raised catholic, and in theory all I need to do is go confess my sins and I am all better. Personally I don't see why you can't be both, as long as you are not purposely trying to harm others.
  15. I still have to agree with the post above. I see why you felt the way you did, but NYE being on a Wednesday pretty much meant it was going to be an entire party weekend for many people. IMO in that situation I would have done a couple things differently. One, if you were that tired, you could have just said you dont feel well, and am going to take a taxi back to the hotel, no harm no foul. Or two, if you really didnt feel like doing that, just go back to his place and fall asleep on the couch, its not that big of a deal, especially if you had been partying. Or three, have a couple redbulls, and try to enjoy the situation. If everyone is having a good time no one likes a debbie downer. In the future I would take yourself out of the situation in a more polite way. I have a good friend who will become a downer going out sometimes, and it really kills the mood for the others involved. As far as the social media thing is concerned, thats a non-issue, people friend or defriend others on social media all the time, you are overthinking that. Why do you say the guy doesnt like you?
  16. Since this is the general discussion forum, I thought this would be interesting. We all know barebackers come from all walks of life, but sometimes its really interesting to see how much someones personal life is different from their work life. Obviously there is no need to get too personal, but I think it could be an interesting topic. For example a guy I know who is a huge raw slut is also an epidemiologist for the CDC. Personally I am an IT analyst, although I am contemplating going back to school for something else. What about the rest of you? If you want to include your education that could also be interesting. I'm always surprised by how many guys which highly advanced degree's are also guys who love it raw.
  17. hoping for a cure to avoid treatment is a very very bad idea. Not to be blunt but at a certain point you are going to need to decide whats more important, spontaneity or your life.
  18. I wouldn't call this a huge setback. The people who got it were all very sick, and it very well may have been their underlying illness that killed them. You have to remember the basic premise of the treatment that the Berlin patient received was to decimate a persons immune system who has cancer and HIV, and try and rebuild it, thats not an easy thing to do.
  19. HIV coinfection is rare, and I suspect the people that did get it were close to their end anyway. Its worth noting that in the early days of the epidemic, not much was known. Even today we are still learning a lot about the disease, and not all the information given in the past has been accurate.
  20. To each there own, but I dont understand people get STD's and dont get them treated. They hurt, cause other issues, and you can get a bad reputation very quick by spreading them, even among people who bareback.
  21. I would ask yourself this question, would they freak out more over truvada as a preventative thing, or if they found out you were HIV+ Also insurance companies don't willingly share info, diagnosis, or medication info without your consent. Even to your parents, as long as you are over 18, which you should be if you are on here.
  22. Ding ding. I used condoms the first few years I was sexually active. Then I was in a relationship and had sex without one, and I realized how much better it felt. From there, I usually topped bare, regardless of if I was in a relationship or not, but would bottom with condoms outside of my relationship. Then PrEP came along... Now its open season regardless of activity.
  23. Its most likely you diet. If you are anywhere in North America, you probably dont get enough fiber, this is TERRIBLE for bottoming because the waste still comes out, but its much less solid, as it goes through the colon, even if its solid coming out into the toilet. A fiber supplement like metamucil will fix EVERYTHING, and probably make you feel a lot better too. I thought it was all BS until I met a fb a mine about a year and a half ago. He said that's what he does, and it really does work. Take it twice a day, and you will almost always be ready, with minimal prep. Psyllium fiber (the active ingredient in metamucil) works in two ways. First it bulks up the fecal matter, and essentially adds structure to it. Second, it adds a clear odorless "mucous" to your digestive tract that allows things to not only pass easier, but also gives you what amounts to natural lube in your ass. I've been bottoming for years, and I have NEVER seen anything make as much of a difference as taking a fiber supplement has. Its also really a good idea for general health because most people in NA dont get nearly enough fiber. Seriously try it.
  24. Got this from a friend in Chicago, but long story short, the state of Illinois is going to be covering the cost of PrEP for anyone who wants it, regardless of ability to pay. http://medillreports.com/2014/12/12/illinois-preps-for-new-hiv-prevention-program/
  25. I haven't heard anything in particular just in reference to this, but there are lots of reasons that HIV is higher amount people of color (both inside and outside of Africa) I've done some outreach work in some areas where its predominately black populations, and even if there is a slight genetic predisposition, it is far from the only reason. Personally at least in the US I would say that at least among black MSM, racism is a bigger factor than any genetic variance. Many black MSM tend to have sex or date predominately or exclusively within their race. In many cases because of mistrust or bad experiences in dating or having sex outside their race. While there is nothing wrong with that, what it has also done is created a concentrated pool of people that are HIV+. Combine that with mistrust of the medical establishment, because of wrongs in the past, and you have a recipe for high HIV infection rates. However like I said before, there are tons of reasons, and this is just a part of it.
