Before I leave home for a session at a sex club or sauna, I use a dildo and a butt plug as part of my cleaning out routine, so I’m already somewhat prelubed from that. Once I arrive, I usually go to the bathroom for a final ‘cleanliness check’ before I start my rounds, and at that point I’ll usually just insert a little water-based lube up there, so I’m ready for the first one. Perhaps these younger tops also respond well to the straightforwardness of us older bottoms. We tend to forget that for most of us it takes years to grow to a point where we know exactly what we want sexually. I wasn’t like this in my 20’s: I didn’t know what I wanted. For tops in their 20’s it must be very refreshing to deal with bottoms who know exactly what they want and have no hang-ups about it.

I think a lot of this has to do with subconscious power play in the top/bottom dynamic. Tops are supposed to be the dominant partner, and in general it’s easier to dominate guys who are younger, less experienced than yourself. So lazy or not very confident tops will naturally gravitate towards younger bottoms rather than taking on the challenge of dominating an older bottom. The ones who specify ‘no over 30’ or whatever generally fall into this category, and should be avoided at all costs. The flip side of this is that there are many confident tops in their 20’s or early 30’s who positively enjoy the challenge of dominating an older daddy, and that’s the reason why older bottoms will often attract more tops from this younger age group than from their own. I think the trick to attracting this better class of top is to be confident in your own manner: don’t overplay the sub thing, let them think they are breaking you down with their irresistible charm and cunning. A simpering 40- or 50 year old bottom is a bad look: no-one wants to fuck that, where’s the challenge? Be cocky, be forward, be confident. Of course, there will always be those who really do have a visceral aversion to older guys. You can spot them quite easily: they’re the ones who in sex clubs and saunas will go to bizarre lengths not to even see you. There’s nothing you can do about that, but the good news is that they are quite a small minority, maybe 10-20 percent?

Vault139 has 4 gloryhole cubicles, but at busy times, they’re very popular with couples looking to have sex in private, and it can be difficult to get one. If you do, chances are you’ll have either a courting couple or another bottom in the cubicle on either side if you, so there will be a whole lot of not very much going on. Bunker Bar has a similar set up, though it’s always been rather quiet when I’ve been, and no-one seems to use them at all. I think Sweatbox sauna also has some, unless they were done away with in the latest refurb… Pleasuredrome used to have a ‘slurp ramp’, but it was never very popular, and they’ve got rid of it. I’m afraid gloryholes have just fallen out of fashion in recent years, which is a great shame.

I would love to keep a tally, but find it so difficult. It’s only January 3rd, but already I have no idea how many loads I’ve taken in 2022. I think Saturday night is ‘all or nothing’ (ie: naked or clothed), but Saturdays are often difficult for people to commit to… Otherwise we could compromise by picking a naked day, but arranging to meet at 4:00 or 5:00pm- ‘stripped’ doesn’t begin till 7:00. That way, those who want naked can stay for stripped, and those who don’t can leave before it starts. Even if it’s just a case of having a chat and a drink at the bar, I’d quite like to put faces to a few names on here… and then maybe dive into the general mayhem later.

Here’s one for the fellow gardeners amongst you. Right now in England, common ivy (Hedera helix) is coming into flower. It’s a great late-season source of nectar for all kinds of pollinating insects. It also smells remarkably like cum- so much so that walking past some just stopped me in my tracks and made me think “What the hell is that?” In the spring, I’ve noticed several varieties of Berberis smell the same. It amazes me that there are flowers that smell so similar to cum. Has anyone else noticed this, or the same phenomenon in any other plant species?

Mondays and Thursdays are naked nights, and Thursday in particular can be VERY busy. Not sure about the other weekday nights, but think they are much quieter. Cleaning facilities are minimal- it’s a sink rinse at best! They have bag/clothes check available at all times. On naked nights, stripping is obligatory from 7:00pm. You get a plastic crate to put your clothes and other belongings in, and then check that in behind the bar in exchange for a ticket that you need to tuck into your socks for safe keeping. Naked nights are great- there’s action going on everywhere… you really should give it a go!

I’m toying with the idea of taking the train to Paris for a couple of nights, and then travelling onto Barcelona for a few days. Not right now- but perhaps during the autumn, when (hopefully) more clubs will be up and running at full capacity again…

You don’t say in your profile where you are based. Given ongoing travel restrictions, can I assume you are British, and by “Europe” you mean the Continent? If so, then yeah, I reckon Paris and some of the Eastern European countries like Poland and Hungary might be your best bet right now. If on the off-chance you are not British and mean a trip to Europe as a whole, then you might also consider London, which is pretty much open for business at the moment.

They seem to be getting that way. For a long time, the Locker Room in Kennington was the only one open, and that was packed- not sure how it’s fairing now that others have opened. I went to Sweatbox recently, and that was pretty busy, and I’ve heard a lot of good things about the newly refurbished Pleasuredrome. Covent Garden Health Spa is up and running again, and hosting several Jamie hP parties, such as TFN, SBN and their pool party. Sailors in Limehouse is also open, but it’s never been particularly popular; same with E15 in Stratford. We’ve lost Chariots in Vauxhall, though I did hear a rumor it might re-open under new management…

I think the lack of replies to your question speaks volumes and tells you all you need to know about the New York sex scene as far as a visitor is concerned. I used to live in New York, many years ago now- but I still have friends there and visit regularly (or at least did, pre-COVID). While I’m sure there is a very vibrant sex scene if you are ‘in the know’, it’s very hard to break into if you are a visitor. Sex clubs and bathhouses as we know them in Europe or other US cities are virtually non-existent, presumably a hangover from the post-AIDS crackdown on such venues. Of course, there are always the apps, but a lot of the time guys can’t host because they can’t afford to live alone, and with the ongoing spread of keycard access and COVID protocols, even doing the hotel cumdump thing seems to be becoming increasingly difficult. New Yorkers have always had a problem with what they call the “Bridge and Tunnel” crowd (ie: anyone who doesn’t live on the island of Manhattan), and seem to prefer to play amongst themselves- something I have always thought a bit strange, as a steady stream of tourists always brings a welcome flow of fresh meat to the sex venues of Europe (in normal times, at least). I would seriously think twice about a sexcation in New York, particularly if you are planning to use up precious paid vacation days. Perhaps consider spending them somewhere else in the Northeast? Last time I was there, I gave myself a few extra days, and hopped on a train to Montreal where I had a fantastic time. -
It’s the one thing that puts me off going to Berlin. To make all that effort and spend all that money, only to be turned away from the club you’ve been so looking forward to visit… Although the London club scene is much smaller, one thing I love about it is that there is no overt ageism when it comes to club/bar entry policy. You see all ages and all types enjoying themselves, and this creates a welcoming environment for everybody. It also gives hope to younger guys that there isn’t a cut off later in life: you can continue to indulge your fantasies for as long as you feel able.

Thank you @ErosWired for your insight- such a shame that what was intended to be a light-hearted topic took a sour turn so quickly. I agree with pretty much everything you say. I hope that by wearing a harness I am indeed signaling to certain tops that I would like them to use it to penetrate me harder and deeper than they could if I wasn’t wearing it, particularly when I am bent over a fuck bench in a fuck club with my arse in the air. NBN/SBN have a new venue -open tonight

I went on Sunday. It now takes place inside the Covent Garden Health Spa, which is one of London’s more ‘upmarket’ gay saunas, and isn’t bad as far as saunas go. It’s not massive, but bigger than I remembered. Same old SBN vibe pretty much- a lot of faces/cocks I recognized from the old pre-pandemic days at the Union. Hard to say how many guys were there, probably only about 100, but felt crowded due to the smaller size of the venue. Biggest downside was the heat- by 5:00pm it was becoming unbearable, and guys were leaving. And an extraordinary amount of lube everywhere, so much that the floor became so slippery in parts it was hard to gain enough traction for a good fuck. Other downside was cost of drinks: £6.00 for a bottle of beer. On the upside, there are more fuck benches/beds than at Union, as well as private cubicles. There are also showers, which I was in dire need of by the end of play, simply to wash off all the lube that had smeared itself all over my body (hiring a towel costs extra, but I simply used a discarded one- no point getting prissy about a used towel, given how many bodily fluids had been exchanged by that point). No douching facilities of course (and only 2 crappers), but they’re a rare luxury in London anyway. I’ve mixed feelings about the new venue, can’t decide if I like it or not. I’m going again this Sunday to see if I can make up my mind. At least it’s in a better part of London, for me at least. -

I’ve never been interested in fetish wear of any sort, and (partly through laziness) have always preferred naked events over ones that have some kind of clothing requirement. But with plans to attend an upcoming sleaze party in London (HardOn), I thought I’d better make some kind of token effort and at least splash out on a harness. Once purchased, it turns out I quite liked the look of it, so I decided to give it an outing on Sunday afternoon at SBN, another London sleaze party that’s mostly naked, though harnesses are allowed. Well- I have to say, a number of tops really went to town, grabbing hold of it and using it to pound me harder and deeper than I even thought possible! WHY DID NO-ONE TELL ME THIS BEFORE??!! I’d always assumed that harnesses were just about the look, and kinda looked down my nose at them a little coz the world and his wife seem to wear them these days. I had no idea they actually changed the way you get fucked! Duh! Anyway, now I get it, and am looking forward to future adventures in it.
