Further there is an intake process on Cabaneuva where you take pills for several weeks of a lower dose to determine whether you'll have unhappy side effects before they go off an inject. -

To the original question, honestly if you're waffling about whether to get poz, the answer is of course DON'T. Indecision is a great answer on it's own. Nothing is going to magically be better once we're HIV POZ. A lot is going to not be so great, and for some it is going to suck big time, and not in a good way. Even treatment, while it can become pill free, will still start with pills. For the most part doctors aren't going to treat a newly infected person with Cabeneuva unless factors within their body is already controlling HIV somewhat. -

@BareFF I am in a similar position, genetics keep HIV fairly well in check. My original and first HIV doc pushed meds even in the face of a low viral load. I was getting frustrated as my pharmacist suggested it best I stop another med that keeps me mobile. My very candid conversation with my new HIV doc has us both agreed on no meds for now. Regular labs of course so that we know what is going on; but there is a pretty good chance I'll never be on ARVs in my lifetime. (starting a poz life at 74). Of course with regular labs, if and/or when my numbers take a less healthy trajectory he and I will discuss. -

This was actually covered fairly well last night on Bill Maher's 8/30/24 show. Options other than color to encourage diversity. Many times I am struck with how racist some of our antiracist fellows are. We still focus way too much on complexion and too little on who we actually are. While on one hand it is a great thing that we have a woman of color running for President; in truth color is just a small part of who she is. Rather she has had diverse professional experiences; and we can see even in her policies how that has shaped her. Almost comical how some pundits are going nuts over her apparent position changes and yet the rather dramatic position changes of Agent Orange are ignored by those same people. One day the race of leader, victim, neighbor will a footnote rather than the main part of our description of someone. But for now we seem to be overly focused on race.

Indeed and yet; we both know it is ever so much more nuanced than that. There was a symphony of factions afoot then. But yeah we didn't need the benefit of history to know why the Anita Bryant was happy as fuck that us queers were apparently dying off. Look for why that is? Why? Those f@&&0ts will be dead before my term is up. No voters there.... And indeed. I imagine there are some excellent books written, probably banned in some places, which were current then much as our current pundits write today about recent events.

@hntnhole Doc Jones added some dimension to my understanding of the evolution. I often falling into the "is it in the dictionary" camp. My childhood drilled that into my developing brain cell. This does add a layer of complexity - our propensity to evolve words as we try to express ourselves. And it has taken time since then to evolve myself. -- and yet -- now I am retired, and my presence in the workplace (and the dialogue which evolved there) has become somewhat an exit ramp to language currency. It evolves in my town differently; and local dialects still do exist. Think I might be wrong on that? Come on by and we'll fry out. 🙂

@topblkmale Thank you for exposing me to something interesting to watch. Not to disparage porn. But THIS engaged my brain (as does some of our conversations here - I rather like the bit of a brain jolt.). Otherwise here we might have beat this topic to death perhaps. Glad for the topic - and in particular enhancing my understanding.

Do you mean is there a "Gen (fill in letters here)?" chart? Not that I've ever found. And lately I am wondering why we continue to put a name to definitions after "baby boomer"? Why not just refer to our decade? Wouldn't that be a shit load easier on everyone?

There is a fellow who lives a few miles from me; married and ostensibly straight. For the past 10 years he hits me up about once a year or so for a blow job. In the grand scheme of things I don't make his problem my problem. However were we fucking; yeah, no. At that point i would be pretty directly exposing her to any STI's I might pass on without her consent.
