You sound like an excellent candidate for PrEP; there is a whole sub-forum about it under HIV/AIDS & Sexual Health if you need more info. That's your best bet to avoid HIV, and if you can do that, then you can be a BB slut and have a family, too. One point I think you need to hear, Smithy, is this. The test is not what will give you HIV. The test will only tell you what is already true. Putting off the test doesn't make you any less (or any more) infected; it just leaves you ignorant of your status. The WORST CASE scenario is not, as you seem to believe, finding out that you have HIV; it is that you are HIV+ and delaying the possibility of treatment by not getting tested.

The place where PrEP beats condoms is this - If you only use condoms some of the times, they offer almost no protection over the long run. You can miss 2-3 doses of PrEP meds in a week and still have protection. In any case, there is no reason to go through all of this here. There is a whole sub forum on PrEP where all of this has been discussed and where links to all of the documentation are posted. I am a little surprised the moderators haven't moved this thread yet.

I would say it's kind of both. Taking two different poz (if undetectable) loads increases your chances of contracting HIV from one of them. But if they are both undetectable, the chances are so small that the intensifying effect of doing both won't amount to much in the end. Basic probability - if you are doing something that has a small risk, then doing it twice almost but not quite doubles your risk. If the probability of infection from each guy was 1/1000 = .001 (just for example), then having sex with both of them increases your risk to .001999 But the chances of being infected by an undetectable guy are MUCH lower than those numbers. You may be only raising your chances from 1 in a million to almost 2 in a million. It's kind of like buying a second lottery ticket. Technically, it increases your chances of winning the jackpot but not by much.

Please do get it taken care of. I most likely picked up syphilis this spring at a Bear Run in Dallas. Being a bottom, the initial infection chancre must have been internal. I didn't notice anything until I developed a rash this summer. Unfortunately, it started the week after I had spent an entire Saturday pulling vines and clearing brush in our yard, so I thought it was a reaction to some plant I was allergic to for the first week. By that time I had red dots all over my arms and legs. Fortunately, my doctor recognized the rash as most likely secondary syphilis right away. After tests confirmed it, I got a big shot of penicillin, and I was better in a few days. But the rash took weeks to completely fade. And everyone I ran into wanted to know what was up with it. Then there was the added joy of contacting every trick from the period when I might have been contagious. Syphilis doesn't get dangerous until it goes past the 2nd stage, but it is truly no fun. Get it looked at now.
