leatherpunk16 Posted October 22, 2021 Report Posted October 22, 2021 Other hotels near the event are the Travelodge (across the street) and the Essex a couple blocks down. Both are nicer hotels, and good for giving yourself space between things (or a good night's rest when you've partied too hard and just need QUIET). You'll also meet a number of porn stars at the event, all of whom are booked like crazy to hawk merchandise, dance, and offer their unique services to individuals for inflated rates. 2 Quote

(bph2184@gmail.com) Are you sure? I booked yesterday and didn’t have any problem securing a room, and had a choice of rooms. Were you using the hotel booking link on the IML website? You have to book via that link to book a room for the event. I imagine the event has most of the hotel’s rooms as a reserved block for attendees, so anyone trying to reserve from outside the event would find no vacancy. 1 Quote

The Ram "A Gay Treasure" was torn down. In fact, so was Little Jim's and almost that entire block. It will be replaced by a six story Howard Brown health center. So instead of getting the clap, you'll get treated for the clap. Cellblock is not a Latin dance bar. It's a great place that borders on dive status. It smells like... something. Locker room? There's a sling and a lot of nights a guy getting fucked in it. Love to have you or anybody else when IML rolls around! Quote
hntnhole Posted November 18, 2021 Report Posted November 18, 2021 Update: So I was talking the other day to one of my favorite Partners-in-Breeding back in Chgo. Having left Chgo 11 years ago, I asked about the Congress, and he said it's been completely re-done, and it's very nice now. 2 Quote
Bruce999 Posted November 19, 2021 Report Posted November 19, 2021 Those going to IML you have to go to The Steamworks bathhouse. It’s worth your time to go. 1 1 Quote

atlfukbud Posted February 19, 2022 Author Report Posted February 19, 2022 Any plans so far -- sex parties, activities, visits to Steamworks? Quote
ErosWired Posted February 19, 2022 Report Posted February 19, 2022 I have every intention of spending some time at Steamworks, but as to the rest of it, never having been I have no idea what it’s like, what to expect, how to become involved in any action, or even how to find out whether there id any activity going on. I get the impression that there’s a degree of networking involved, word-of-mouth, people connecting people with other people who know other people - all of which is not something I’m very skilled at. There’s a very real risk I could go there and miss out on everything simply from not being socially savvy enough to pick up on cues. If I become aware of sex parties that I would be welcome to attend, I will certainly do so; if I am requested to provide more personalized service to a smaller group, I will of course gladly do that as well. If all else fails, I guess I’ll just be another in the multitude of raised asses poised in hope of an opportunity to serve. Between now and then I hope to become better informed about what to expect. 1 Quote
hntnhole Posted February 19, 2022 Report Posted February 19, 2022 When you're walking through the Leather Mart, there should be tables set up here and there, in somewhat out-of-the-way areas with one-sheets, palm cards, etc notifying everyone of the different parties being held by attendees. You don't have to sign up or anything like that - just show up and jump in. Try to get to visit the Leather Archives up in Rogers Park. The busses used to stop there - I don't know if they still do though. It may sound a bit mundane, but for Leathermen, it's an amazing connection to our history. I hope every single one of you has a wonderful time, and gets back home completely wrung out, and with a big, fat smile on your collective mugs !!! At IML, it's all about the LeatherLife, and that includes Cock/Hole/Sperm and soooo much more. Quote
Guest WelshBBCigarFuck Posted February 19, 2022 Report Posted February 19, 2022 (edited) Damn you guys are lucky. I got into leather in my 20’s and have ended up with a full set of leather gear, but over here in the U.K. there isn’t a huge leather scene and what there is tends to be nowhere near local to where I am. One day I might get the chance to go to IML… For those of you going, I hope you have a great time. Edited February 19, 2022 by WelshBBCigarFuck Quote
hntnhole Posted February 19, 2022 Report Posted February 19, 2022 Hey, WelshBBCigarFuck ... Wales isn't that far from Berlin ... "Folsom in Berlin" is off the charts - I think it's somewhat associated with "Ostern-in-Berlin" (a larger, general audience type event to boost tourism) - since it takes place around Easter, but I'm not sure about that. However, Schonberg turns into one big neighborhood of Leathermen - literally thousands - and it'll blow your mind - at least it did mine a number of times !!! I know it was held last year - hope it will this year too. Good luck, bud !!! Quote

hntnhole Posted February 19, 2022 Report Posted February 19, 2022 oh - one more thing - Try to get a nap in before the day is over. The stairwells/hallways used to be breathtakingly depraved in the wee hours. Better than walking the halls looking for open doors. 1 Quote

The web page for visiting the Archives and Museum: [think before following links] https://leatherarchives.org/museum/plan-your-visit. The Archives is 2 blocks from the intersection of Clark St. and Devon Ave. The Clark St. bus (No. 22) and the Broadway bus (No. 36) stop at Clark and Devon; so does the Sheridan Rd. bus (No. 151). Admittedly, it's been like forever since I've been to Chicago, but riding the Clark St. bus was certainly an experience in urban living. (On Friday and Saturday nights, depending on the mood of the bus driver, he'd stop the bus right at the entrance to Man's Country.) Quote
