Well, you are being safe - you're on PrEP, which means that taking loads is no more risky than barebacking period, which can get you some annoying STIs but isn't what I'd call dangerous. Besides that, you alone are responsible for your level of risk in life. Your therapist should be willing to help you gain perspective on that, but should not be judging you for it one way or another. Some people like sky-diving, some people like bareback sex. His job is not to keep you safe (there's no safety this side of the grave anyway), it is to keep you sane. And certainly that includes working through your own anxieties and confusions about risk and coming to a place of self-knowledge and comfort about it. -

I read all of this with great interest - thanks for starting a super helpful thread, and thanks to all the people who posted great suggestions! The way you phrase the question is not meaningful in my world view. First, I don't "choose to be" gay, it's simply part of the way I am made, like having blue eyes or freckles. Second, I don't consider it undignified to get on my knees and suck a man's dick, any more than any other kind of sex is undignified. The whole "degradation" aspect that can show up in sexual relations (and indeed which some people seem to crave and enjoy, in one role or the other) just doesn't click inside my brain for whatever reason. I'm not judging here - it doesn't seem to me that either way of seeing it is wrong. They're just different. Almost eight billion people and counting, and still everyone has to be either "straight" or "gay" (well, ok, there are a few more boxes in the QUILTBAG world, but still only a couple of dozen). How absurd!

However, to follow up on that excellent post, I'd add that it only applies to gays who are not in denial / on the DL. I've had my share of STIs, and I find that much more often than not I get them in a situation (usually a bookstore or similar venue) where encounters are anonymous and some of the participants fall into that category. It's almost enough to make me swear off bookstores and public cruising grounds, but I really do enjoy the vibe when I'm in the mood. -
All that, definitely. And also the page load time is much longer than it ought to be, which is likely because the implementation is inefficient. I estimated it at something on the order of 5 seconds the other day when there were only 10,000 users or so connected. Of course, all the other apps suffer from similar problems in greater or lesser amounts. Of the ones I've used, Scruff seems to be the best, as far as implementation goes. The whole thing is occasionally irritating enough that I think about giving them some competition, but then I come to my senses and remember that it's a crowded market and going head to head with services that have an established foothold would be a recipe for frustration.
