Although I live in Canada and have a good drug plan, I can totally identify with the panic that poptronic is feeling. I would probably feel the same way because I don't want and I don't chase HIV. Why is having sex with men hotter than with women? No man would fully enjoy a soccer/football/MMA/etc game where women were part of their team or of their opponent's team. Having women involved in physical activities doesn't unleash the potential that is physically possible when only men are involved. Why should sex, also a physical activity, be any different? The central issue to your dilemma is "Afterward". That discussion should have happened BEFORE you had sex and that way evaluate his answer and make a decision. And the fact that gfboy1988 didn't bring it up implied to the other guy that gfboy1988 is already poz or is not concerned with HIV status. Maybe nobody is poz or bfboy1988 won't seroconvert. The only way to know is the HIV test but you'll have to wait about 12 weeks to be completely sure with the results. -

I'm not saying that providing the date of the last negative test would guarantee an HIV-negative guy but at least it provides more information. A level of "piggyness" (number of partners, anon/non-anon) since the last HIV-neg test would also help. Having sex with somebody who tested negative in 1999 but no sex since may be safer than with a guy who tested negative 2 months ago but who is a cumslut (high level of piggyness). Just more information that would allow guys to make the decision to go bareback. Not full proof, but better that what we have now.

I go for displaying HIV status. Other than Negative, Positive, Undetectable I like "Don't Care" because it says nothing about HIV-status. I've always thought that HIV-status "Negative" should be accompanied by the date of last HIV negative test result. Negative by itself is very incomplete.

The fact that one has to, by law, disclose your HIV status is one of the reasons I don't wish I were poz. At the same time I don't blame poz guys who have sex in darkrooms and gloryholes or who even lie about their status when having sex in these anon settings (darkrooms, gloryholes, saunas). There has to be places where poz guys can free themselves from having to discuss their status and can just get into breeding or getting their holes bred.
